Okay, I am 22 no out, in maintenance, and my stomach is SOO LOUD now with gurgling sounds etc that it is embarrassing at times. Today I went to have a massage and OMG, I know the lady thought I was nuts! Last night laying in the bed my husband said , " What is that NOISE?!!!!". Lol. Anybody else experience this. Seems mine has gotten louder as time goes on

I'm 2 weeks out and have a terribly loud stomach now.

I get the gurgling, both in my stomach and in my esophagus. I had the esophagus gurgle with my band but the stomach gurgle is new. I also get "whining" - not sure how else to describe it. And typical digestion sounds but on a greatly amplified scale. Apparently it woke my husband up last night. I sure hope it doesn't get louder!

I was sleeved on 1/23/2012, my stomach has been noisy from the start. It's my gremlin, in my tummy, growling, LOL.

It's odd that yours just now became that way, after 22 months. Are you eating differently or new foods?

I can see how it could be embarrassing in certain situations. Check with your doc, but sounds normal as long as no pain or other symptoms.

This post made me laugh right out loud. I was sleeved on Dec. 28th and had noticed that there are times that my tummy was loud and made noises resembling the birth of an alien being coming out through my flesh. What made me laugh was that just last night I was laying awake in bed in the middle of the night because it was warm, my cat was sleeping at the foot of the bed in a snoring state. My tummy made a very loud and long growling sound that woke her up and scared her off the bed, she sat up a moment, looked around and ran under the bed. I laughed about this all day and shared the story with my co-workers. I am happy to live with the unusual sounds as my life is already healthier and happier and can only continue to get better. Thanks for sharing...

Hi Nannie! I just realized sleevie is quiet now...once in while he makes noises, but NOTHING like he use to...so I would say it does get better eventually :)

Lol! I'm 8 weeks out & Tiny Sleevie Timkins over here does get loud sometimes, on a regular basis...I think it's funny, what with the gurgling, burping and new hollow sounding poots I let go...I just consider it the soundtrack of my new lifestyle! Lol!

Terrilynndrew, that cracked me up! The soundtrack! As I lay here listening to the gentle rumbling And tumbling of my VSG. It's sorta like listening to my own "noise" machine! Lol.

Sleeve4, how long since u were sleeved? I think we are close together.

My tummy makes noises too, I have just gotten used to them. The other day my hubby was layng on my tummy and it was making a lot more noise than usual. He was like what is in there??? I guess it sounds a lot louder when you lay directly on it!! :D :P :D :P

Lol, mine is soooooo loud and it embarrasses me at the worst times. We nicknamed my little beast the "angry chihuahua" because it sounds like it's always growling (and it's small now!)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
