Okay, I know they tell you not to BUT nothing changes and not a problem for anybody I have seen/heard. Try using a straw! Helped me tremendously.

Since sips, normal drinking and schugs hurt, i may try a straw. Why do they tell us no straws? My surgeon adamantly said no straws buy he doesn't want me dehydrated either but thats what is happening!

The straws have to do with swallowing air (the straw is full of air that you're pulling into your mouth), and also with the larger volume you tend to swallow when you use a straw. My plan says straws are OK if they don't cause a problems. I've been choosing to use them. I just open my mouth before I swallow, no air problems.

Water was ok, then got a bit harder. I can only take tiny sips, and just a few. But I can chew ice chips all night long. Have you tried ice chips, or SF popsicles? I know cold things seem to bother people but I do fine with them and I'm not sure I'd be able to maintain hydration at this point if it weren't for ice chips.

Do what your plan says, but if it's me and I have to choose between hydration or carbs, I'm taking the hydration.

wish i had your problem. i just don't like to drink liquids that much. i try and force myself, but only get about half liquids in per day..

i'm working on the problem. i know how important liquids are

i was hospitalized for dehydration. will never have that again.-no fun

best of luck to me

I tried ice chips and they do work. I just so tired that they end up melting before I can get a decent amount. As for popsicles, I "got sick" when I had one in the hospital aand it usually talkes me a while to get over that.

I tried drinking with a straw.................. SO far so good. Thx a mil!

Omg, I was JUST wondering about not being able to chug after surgery! I was chugging Water today and realized that the wonderful feeling of chugging to quench my thirst will be non-existent someday soon. :(

Whether I sip or chug' date=' my tummy doesn't like it!!!!!!! The only thing I can drink in a single sitting with some quantity to is chicken broth. I can't live off of that. I haven't had Protein in 2 days because I have been so sick and I almost passed out yesterday due to dehydration!!!!!!! I need help![/quote']

Try sf popsicles.. When nothing else works...popsicles go down nicely!

Drinking was my biggest problem after surgery. I lived off of sugar free popsicles. But at 6 weeks it suddenly got better. I was able take bigger "sips". I think in the beginning I was able to get in 20 oz at the most. I am at 8 1/2 weeks and I can get 40 oz. It gets better with time. I am still really thirsty all the time jut not as bad as in the beginning.

You won't have to live on just sips all your life. In my experience im almost 4 weeks out and i can finally quench my thirst by taking down more than just a few sips at a time.

Keep a bottle of Water with u and every few mins keep taking a few sips. It'll quench your thirst and if you keep at it you'll no doubt get your water quota for sure.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
