Read about them, but just hit 3 weeks post op and never experienced until today. I have been pretty up beat and go go go, but tonight after work I cracked and just wanted no one around me and got in bed at 7pm before the kids and left my husband to attend them....anyone experience this?

I am 5 weeks post op and I have had a few crazy days.. I have had to apologize to several people around me for acting like a monster. I even hung up on my mother. Who is an amazing person and my best friend. I freaked on my boyfriend because he had to work late one night and he has no control over it if he has to stay he has to stay.. and my rational mind knows this but when my hormones kick in everyone better watch out.

I think it's a normal thing. I have been feeling pretty good lately and I can kinda feel when I'm gonna get in a funky mood so I can warn everyone. I have noticed exercise really helps my moods.

When my daughter who is 3 said to me "Mommy I don't like it when you are mean" I realized I needed to do my best to pay attention to my moods and what makes me feel better and worse. It broke my heart for her to say that to me so I am more aware now I think. So I don't hurt the people around me.

Good luck and if all else fails call your Doctor maybe they can help you out.

I feel like an absolute mess right now. I think its due to my grief over food. I was/am completely addicted to food & now that I can't have it like I used to, I feel insane. Hoping it will pass soon. I'm 5 weeks out.

I actually had more mood swing before the surgery. I finally feel like I have a better idea of what my feelings are not that I am not eating to fuel my moods. I am not eating wheat which also helps my moods. When I ate wheat before the next day I was crazy. I think my daughter is noticing the difference.

I think we all have to work on dealing with our new relationship with food. I am not missing food to bad. I think that is amazing. I am trying to find other things to fill my time. I can't sit and watch TV, all I want to do is eat while I am watching. So now I have to find things to do with my time. Like chatting on the computer, going for a walk.

I love my new life, still adjusting but I hope that it continues

One thing that happens to women after WLS is an increased level of estrogen in the bloodstream. This is caused by the estrogen that has been stored in our fat cells. As we lose weight rapidly and lose fat - those fat cells release the estrogen they have been storing into the blood stream. For me, I felt like I did in the worst of puberty - wild fluctuations of mood - happy, weepy, angry - and a wicked tounge in my mouth that I had to watch to keep from saying inappropriate things. This lasted about three months, then gradually abated.

I didn't have to worry about a change in my fertility levels or a change in my menstrual cycle, since I am 55 and had a hysterectomy years ago - but younger women beware! This increased estrogen level can play heck with your cycles. I recommend being particularly diligent with your birth control during this phase of your weight loss.

Mood swing city! It was insane. I could be thinking in my head "Why are you saying that" but it would still come shooting out of my mouth and I couldn't have cared less and kept right on going. It is starting to calm down now, although sometimes I still get irritated out of no where. Not sure how much of it has to do with surgery and how much of it really is just that I'm a *****!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
