Weigh The Same As When I Had Surgery

Recommended Posts

I went in weighing 158 on Friday and had my surgery. I just got home and weighed and I weigh the exact same. What on earth???? Is this normal?

If you mean 258, you will have several pounds of Fluid from the iv's. I went in weighing 240 and came home from the hospital weighing 250. I peed ALL night (at least 20 times, not kidding) and it took 2 days to get the fluids out. Then you'll start to see the loss. Congratulations and hang in there.

I hope you mean 258? And yes, completely normal! You just had pretty major surgery, and will have a lot of swelling and Fluid retention. Once your body 'feels' better and more stable, it will start to flush out the excess fluid it wants to hold onto for protection.

Give it at least a week.....

No I mean 158. I had my band removed due to complications at the same time and had the sleeve done. I hope the Water weight doesn't stay for too long. I'm following everything to a T.

I think this is normal due to the IV (even at 158).

Much rest and speedy recovery to you!

It will go away, but it took about 12 days for me. I kept calling my doctor's office asking if it was normal. I took my pain meds fairly regularly, and it helped with the shoulder ache.

I've lost about 15 pounds, including the 6 from the pre-op diet (one week). I am now 2 weeks post op. I'm a little disappointed because I see all of these 20+ pound losers in the first weeks, and I am only at 9 from the surgery (in 14 days). I hope I didn't do all of this to lose 15 pounds.

On the other hand, being 15 pounds lighter does feel great.

When I had the band I lost slow at first then it came off fast. I'm sure your body is just adjusting. Congrats on the 15 yay!!!! Keep in touch we are basically neck to neck on our dates would be nice to have a sleeve partner. Where were you sleeved?

I did feel that way at first, but this week, that has subsided. From what I have read here, it has to do with swelling. When the swelling goes down, the pressure is less. Hope you feel better!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
