Surgery Date 3/28/12! (And...did Everybody Have To Have A Blender?)

Recommended Posts

I went to my consult today and got the final approval for the vsg. I was concerned that the surgeon wouldn't take my case because I underwent an intestinal bypass in the mid 70's when bariatric surgery was in its infancy. The type of bypass that I had (jejunoileal) was stopped after only 3 years because of the complications and deaths that occurred and I'm one of the few who never had to have it reversed. Phew.... anyway, it's a go and I'm really excited. Until today I was keeping my anticipation in check out of fears that I would be rejected. Now I've got to get my shopping list together in a hurry now that I'm approved.

I have one qurestion... do I really need to buy a blender?? Not that it's a big deal, but I hate buying something that I'll probably use for a week or so and then put it back in a closet somewhere.

Hi there! Congrats to you!! I have my Surgeon Consult this thursday(15th) I can't wait!!

I think it's just a preference to have blender.

I have been trying out different Protein powders and trying to make them really appealing, if you know what I mean

I have one of those bullet blender things, bought it on Amazon for around $25, it's not the Magic Bullet, but it's the same exact thing, for far less money. I think it will also help when I have to move to mushies. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Congrats on your date! I think that you have to figure out what things you're going to eat after in regards to buying a blender or not. Protein shakes don't necessarily need a blender but I recommend getting a shaker cup at least (Amazon has them for like $6). What kind of food will you eat for the pureed/mushies stage?

For me, I already have a blender and recently bought a food processor too. I like my shakes in the blender because I like to add fruit and stuff to them. I'm going to use the food processor for pureeing some of my food as I dont want to do so much work! But you have to do what works for you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
