So I'm 10 Days Out, Haven't Lost Anything In 4 Days :(

I KNOW I shouldn't be weighing and I have lost 15 total with the pre op and what I did lose the 1st week, It's just alittle frustrating... and I know my body is in shock and trying to hold on to what it has for dear life...but still annoying!!! Any tips or advice? I guess I was under the delusion I'd be a fast loser LOL

Yes, the most helpful suggestion is to STOP weighing!! My surgery was Monday and I can feel my body hanging on to every drop I'm drinking. None of it is real right now. Just breathe. Relax. And S T E P AWAYYYYYY F R O M THE S C A L E!!! Your body will let go when it's ready. You're doing fine!

I just had my 4 week check up and had a similar experiance but both the doctor and dietian said it is expected in the second two week to slow drasticly then pick up again in a week or so there is no explination for it just is i lost 27 pounds the first two weeks then just 4 the next too so dont worry

I can relate TOTALLY! I actually lost 25 on my 2 week pre-op diet so I figured, hey it will come off quickly!!! and actually I've only lost 10 in the past month.

We need to stop being obsessed with how fast its coming off and more in tune to how we are feeling! I feel so much better not having all that yucky fast food-fried-oily food in my system. And another thing that helps is the saying that you didn't gain the weight overnight, so don't be depressed if it doesn't come off overnight. I think I botched the saying but you get the idea.

Being patient doesn't mean being passive..... there's no reason not to exercise! It makes you feel good and that will translate into losing weight!!!!

Yup I am 12 days out and I refuse to step on the scale until around 1 month post op. I will only be weighing myself every once in a great while. The scale has caused me a lot of problems in the past when I didn't like what I saw. I am not going to do that this time

Everyone is right here. Let's focus on how we're feeling on not on the scale. It is torture to not see the scale move. However, are you loosing body inches? That is more important to me. I love going down in clothes sizes. ;)

TRUE!!! I'm gonna take any lose as a gain bc I know that will be gone for good , thanks for putting it that way!

Tips- keep drinking Water, keeps you hydrated and flushes out toxins, keep up with Protein shakes, walk till your tired and remember- one pound gone is still gone from your body.

I check every Wednesday after the bathroom and I take what I can get- it keeps me from going crazy lol

This happened to me and I got SO upset, I thought I was doing everything wrong. Don't stress, try to walk, and enjoy the foods you can eat--as long as you follow all the reccomendations, you're doing everything right and it WILL come off. I was stalled for almost two weeks and then I lost another three pounds quickly and easily. It will happen!

I founf this on another board it explains it alot!

Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of Water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of Water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet.

As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy -- like, to outrun a sabertooth tiger. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored.

Girl you gotta lose the scale! I stalled at a week and a half out and was weighing myself once even sometimes twice daily then I decided to give the scale to my mom and she brought it back about 4 days later and I had lost 3 lbs!! lol Now I weigh myself once a week which to some is still alot.

Your body is freaking out and will continue to do so for a long while, so the best advice is to do your thing and let your body do its thing. You'll meet up in the end. It was also helpful for me to record my weight on a weekly weigh-in day. Even though I got on the scale every day in the beginning, recording it once weekly helps you see that you are losing weight even when it feels like the scale isn't moving.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
