Scared To Step On The Scale!

Recommended Posts

Well....today marks 2 month post op, I have not lost any weight since my 6 week visit, Wednesday, is my "weigh in day" but I could not bring myself to do it, in fear of being discouraged! What amount of weight have you all lost at the "2 month post op" mark?

Pammie, I know it's hard not be discouraged... while I don't recall the exact amount of weight I lost at that point I can tell you that I have had the LONGEST stalls!!! and most were early on, by the way. Some over 4 weeks. But, the weight DOES COME OFF! I have already lost close to 80 lbs.!!! Often after these stalls are followed by a steady weight loss. I know it's hard, but try not to be discouraged. I always focus on nutrition and doing what I need to do. Eventually you begin the downward trend. I think the body just needs to adjust! Hang in there kiddo!!!!

Just a thought- If you feel apprehensive about getting on the scale...then DON'T get on the dang scale. I mean, you don't HAVE to. Just continue to make healthy choices and live an active lifestyle. Enjoy your life.

Do not worry about the scale as a stall is not uncommon. I had a stall about the same time as you and it lasted between 2-3 weeks but I am again on the losing side of the scale. Just keep doing what you are supposed to.....get all of your Protein and Water and any exercise that you can and believe me that scale will start to move again.

I understand. Even though I have not been sleeved yet. The anticipation will just kill you....Good luck weight flucuates all the time, so just try not to worry about it. You have done the major part, the pounds will come off eventually.

Have you taken measurements? If not, then take some measurements ASAP as a baseline. In stalls, our bodies are typically going down in inches. ;)

Hi Pammie,

we must have had our surgeries around the same date.. mine was Dec 13th and i have lost a total of 20 pounds and only 2 in the last 4 weeks... i weighed in on my "tuesday" weigh in day.. and it was exactly the same as it was the week before... it is so discouraging.. so i know what you mean.. i got online a couple weeks ago and asked for advice too... it was the same more Water and excersise. I have to measure things yet myself... i feel like i am "smaller" in some areas.. but the scale is not showing... i have tried to increase the water intake and am hoping for the best... good luck to you and hopefully we will begin to be losers again! :)

Pammie,

I feel the exact same way! My surgery was 8 weeks ago, and I am in my 2nd stall!! I follow all the rules and still a stall. My dr. told me at the 6 week mark that I need to be eating more food, which scares me a little bit. But I'm doing that and I can tell my energy is much improved.

I know I'm changing, because my clothes keep getting baggier and I'm wearing different sizes. My weight has come off differently than I expected. My lower half seems to loose faster than my upper half, and I expected it to be just the opposite. But the measurements are changing all over, which is good. Still, when the scale won't budget I feel discouraged.

I'm just hoping all these other folks are right, and that this too shall pass!

Good luck!!

I am at eight weeks and three days, so pretty close to two months. I had lost 29 pounds as of Tuesday and 30 pounds as of today. I have a lot of stalls for several days, to a week, and then it seems I lose a pound a day for a few days. I usually notice a loss right after I change things up, like go out to dinner, or take a break from exercise for a day.

I weight myself every day but I also don't care if the scale doesn't move for a week. I know it is happening, and I'm going to get to goal. I weigh daily because I don't want to find out too late that I am doing something wrong causing a gain.

Don't worry or obsess, and if you don't feel like weighing, then you don't have to.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
