Not Sure If Surgery Worked?

Recommended Posts

Be sure to take your PPI/acid reducer, that may help with the hunger/gnawing feeling. The acid feels so much like hunger during this phase. I hope I didn't come off as rude, but I was extremely worried about you. I'm glad you understand our concern. I didn't have problems with liquids either, but a little later when you move to more solid type food is when you will feel your restriction and will be able to tell you have for sure been sleeved. Take care of yourself, and don't rush the stages, but I do understand it's difficult. For me, I missed the actual chewing more than I was hungry lol. It is an adjustment, that's for sure.

:)

Thanks everyone!!! I think the surgery made my brain dull! Obviously, I'm not clearly thinking properly. Hopefully I didn't ruin anything and I'm definately NOT going to do that again. Just a moment of weakness.

Thank you Punkypoo for your comment, I needed that! I think 10 days of preop liquid diet and 5 days of postop liquid diet is just really getting to me. I have come to realize that I am a food addict and it's going to be so hard to adjust to a new way of eating. I love food and miss it so much! I will get back on track ASAP! Thank you again!

I agree with what everyone else has already said regarding jumping ahead of your diet. You may wish to call your surgeon's office to tell them what has transpired and see if they have some help for you to handle the cravings.

Realizing that you are a food addict is a big part of the battle. Did anyone who is part of the pre-op process discuss that with you before this surgery?

One thing that really helped me differentiate between head hunger and "real" hunger is to know where my "new stomach" is. It is not in my abdomen, it is up high in the chest. So, all that activity I thought was hunger is either head hunger or just noise. Knowing that makes it very easy for me to walk away from the kitchen when for some reason I think I am hungry. In reality I haven't really felt true hunger.

Can you call your surgeon's office and get some assistance?

Neither popcorn nor ANY food can get stuck in the staples! Not possible.

The staples are done on the outside of the stomach and the sleeve looks like a pillow case would if you sewed it from the outside. IE no evidence of staples. In fact, a doctor will not be able to see your staples through an endoscopy for that reason.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
