I have researched this entire forum and have not found the answer to this question. I am having a laparoscopic sleeve procedure. I understand the holes they punch in me will be very small. So how does the surgeon remove the excised portion of the stomach through these small holes?

It is removed through one of the larger metal tubes placed in your stomach. Go to YouTube and search "Vertical Sleeve Gasterectomy". You can watch a video of the surgery being done. It is explained as they go through each step.

Pretty much what they said. I had five incisions and the biggest one that's to the right and a bit above my belly button is where they took the stomach out. It's about an inch and a half long.The stomach is a stretchy material (hence why we could eat so much) so I assume it can squeeze through tight spaces. That's the incision that hurt the most because they had to stretch the skin a bit.

1 of my 5 incisions is about 2.5 to 3 inches long. I'm certain it was pulled out there.

From what I understand, the part of the stomach that is removed is twisted in on itself, making it long and thin, and is passed through the largest incision. I have no desire to watch the entire process on you tube - but did catch a clip of that process one time.

I had 5 small incisions. The one just a few inches above my belly button is the larger one (about 2 inches now). I asked the dr about that one & he said that's where they remove the stomach. I was fortunate & didn't have to have a drain. My pain was minimal (mostly gas pain). Just over 3 months out & all healing nicely!
