3 Weeks Post Op - Still Lots Of Pain - Please Advise

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved three weeks ago today. I am very happy with the results (22lbs since surgery). Until about nine days post op I was for the most part free of pain. Then it hit. The intense pain in my left side. Its like a burning and pulling sensation when I sit, sneeze, cough, get in the car, etc. I went to the Dr and they said that it is perfectly normal to feel this way. Well that was a week ago! I am still having this intense pain. Can anyone relate? How long did it take to go away? The Dr said that my left side would hurt because that is where the staple gun went in and they had to make larger incisions, but this is crazy! Anybody else feel this pain?

I think my intense pain lasted about 2 weeks, then it started subsiding. Don't hesitate to call back to your surgeon if you feel something isn't right. Make them earn their keep. ;)

I had pain in my left side when I did tooooo much. However, it wasn't intense. I agree that you should call your surgeon back. ;)

Yes call your surgeon! You know your body better than they do. If something is painful it's a signal that something needs to be addressed. I had left side pain too but definately not intense and not constant.

everyone handles pain differently. What's mild to you might be excruciating to someone else, and vice versa. If its not something that you can tolerate, definitely get with the surgeon's office and let them know that you have intolerable pain. Its NOT normal to be in pain. While there may very well not be anything "out of the ordinary" with your surgery and with healing, the pain isn't acceptable.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
