Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow?

Recommended Posts

I have a question...I'm 5 months post-op and have had little to no hair loss...when can I stop worrying that it's going to start coming out in handfuls any minute now?? Am I out of the woods yet?

My PA told me at 3 months the Hair loss begins. That is exactly what happened to me. You might be the lucky one! Hope so. :0

hair loss started for me at 4 months. Hope you don't have any! Mine is very manageable- it's thinner, not see through, but I can't wait for it to grow back. My ponytail is a sad little skinny thing unless i fluff it.

I'm almost 7 months out, have had NO Hair loss, I've stopped worring about it at this point. I think I got lucky! Good luck!

I'm afraid I spoke too soon...it looks like my hair is thinning a bit and is noticable near where my hair naturally parts. I'm a bit sick about this...my stylist told me years ago I have only two hairs per follicle where others normally have three, so I already have fine, thin hair...to lose more will be devastating...I've tried eating 60 grams of Protein a day, but can never get that much in....dammit, I thought I could stop worrying and now it looks like I'm only just starting. :(

I have been a slow loser, I started taking the hair Vitamin before sugery, I try very hard to get all my Protein in. so far... 4 months out.. I have just lost a little more than what would be normal. I hope that is it... I have thin hair to begin with and really don't want to lose much. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and talking my hair vitaminis!

Hair loss sucks. I have cried on more than one occasion in the shower. There are long blonde hairs EVERYWHERE in my house, car, work place, UGH! It will stop and it will grow back. We are getting our bodies back now, and we will get our hair back later. We will be ok!! Hang in there... I am totally with you here.

Mine started at around 4 months and got the worst at 5 1/2-6 mos. Now it's not as much, just waiting for it to grow back in. It's not too bad. I have to tease up around my part at the back of my head a little or you can see my scalp (black hair and white skin) and my ponytail is thinner - i can wrap the band 4 times instead of 3 now. I don't know if Biotin helps or not, just using my same old Biolage Shampoo and conditioner.

So worried about Hair loss. I have thick hair so I'm sure I could afford to lose a little but still. I can't get all of my Protein in no matter how hard I try. I'm only one week out so I'm sure it's still tough at this point since my sleeve is still swollen but still. Guess I will add some Biotin to my daily routine. A lady I work with was sleeved last April and didn't have hair loss until about a month ago. I think she has let up on the protein thinking she was in the clear. I won't make that mistake!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
