Hi Over Sixty Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

Hi There,

I know that there's a bunch of us over 60's out there, even though we don't always have much to say on this forum. I just wanted to say hi, and that I am doing well, since my sleeve on April 19th. Yes, I am losing more slowly than the norm. Will I hit goal by 1 year? No, I don't think so, but I don't care. I feel so much better. My knees especially thank me. I have some sagging skin, but what do you want at 64? I have learned not to judge my journey by anyone else's. It has reached the point where everyone I know has commented on my weight loss. More than that, I am just happy to have that band out of my body! I have not vomited since that infernal thing was taken out. I never lost any weight when I had it, as it had to keep being readjusted, and i would gain and lose, gain and lose. Awful. I pray that I can keep off the weight that I've lost. That is probably my greatest fear. Obviously, that has been the problem all of my life. Sometimes I eat something, and I think, "How did I get all of that down"? It scares me that my stomach may be stretching. I have seen most of the people I know who have had gastric bypass gain it all back. Scary. Other times I can't get much down. Go figure. Anyway, keep chugging along fellows seniors! God Bless.

Linda

Congrats! You are doing great. Yes, I know people who have had a an RnY and has gained back 40 lbs. I believe that we always have to be mindful about eating a healthy diet. I hope to always be eating under 1200 calories a day for maintenance. I love how I feel today and the increase in energy is phenominal. Love it. ;)

:welcome: hi linda

glad to meet you. BTW losing 77 lbs from April 19, thats pretty great. :woot: like you said, we all lose weight differently. I am 5 weeks post op - 58 years old - hopefully i'll follow suit with my weight too. :hurray: all of us sleevers have to follow our food guidelines and all will be well with the world, no stretching of the sleeve - :seeya: we be nice to our sleeve, and it will be nice to us.

kathy

BTW there is a forum by ages, so the 60's are there. :smile5:

Hi! I was sleeved on April 10th and have lost 36 lbs so far. I'm doing great. what is even greater is that I am no longer diabetic or hypertensive, which was my original goal. I still seem to have problems getting all of my fluids and Proteins in, especially when the day is so busy. I'm retired and don't seem to have enough time in the day to do everything! Go figure. I'm so glad that their is this forum for over 60 because it seems most of the sleevers are in their 20's to 40's and they seem to be losing weight faster than us older folks! I just hope and pray it continues to come off. We just got back from a 3 week vacation to see our kids and I ate all kinds of things I shouldn't but in small amounts of course. I lost 3 lbs! Boy was I surprized. I know that if I did not have the surgery, I would have gained at least 5 lbs and kept it on. Now I'm back home eating the right foods again. Hope everyone else is doing great!

Haven't been on for awhile, but I am doing great. Losing is very slow and I even had a 4 week stall that really was freaking me out. I'm losing weight again, about 1 lb a week and I am now down 43 lbs pre op, 36 post op. My clothes are a bit baggy and I'm so glad I had my closet to "shop" in. You know how it is when you yo-yo diet for 44 years!! Many different sizes. This time around, I gave all my big clothes away. Never did that in the past. I WILL NOT gain this weight back!!! Hope everyone else is doing great!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
