im going to tell my nurse practioner that if they can stop the vomitting somehow, im willing to keep the stent in but if the vomitting cant be controlled, the stent must come out!

i dont wanna feel like i wasted 2weeks for nothing. i pray that maybe my leak is already healed but something tells me that with the lack of nutrition & constant vomitting.... i doubt it.

I worry that the vomiting is just going to keep the leak open with it contracting the stomach. I hope not - I guess if the expert isn't worried maybe not.

Can't they give you a TPN through a PICC line until your issues are resolved? I can't believe they haven't suggested that to you. You can do that at you own home, you don't phave to be hospitalized. They could also put other meds and Vitamins in with it. Nothing goes into your stomach and you do not gain weight. i was on one for 18 days cuz they thought I had a leak in my esophagus from the hiatial hernia part of the surgery. If you have a leak, I would think that they would have put you on it already. i am praying for you and just can't imagine what you must be going through!

The TPN is for food and nourishment. I was on 1300 calorie bag per day, but you don't gain weight and then after you stop it, you lose some Water weight the first week off. i think you should ask about it since it sounds to me like it would do you good while the leak is healing.

I was on a much higher calorie tpn..I gained 13 pounds but it was worth it and I lost the 13 pounds a little over a week after I went off of it. If you feel as bad as you say you do,,I can't believe they haven't suggested this to you either.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
