How Does The Stomach Heal Together From Vsg Surgery? Can Anyone Tell Me?

I've been wondering about the process of healing along the staple line of the sleeve. I know on my surgeons website, there is a description of the stapling and then sewing up the outer edge of the staple line. Does the stomach itself actually start to grow together, sealing things up, or is the leak factor entirely dependent upon the staples and sewing?

PdxMan,

I'm not quite 3 months out yet and I've been gobbling down strawberries. YIKES!

I trust you are doing well, but you may want to hold off for awhile. You just don't want to have one of those pinched in that seam. If you're talking to your medical team, you may want to mention it, but if you aren't having any problems now, you are probably fine.

I was only given those restrictions for the first 6 weeks - I had never heard of restricting foods that might get stuck in the "seam line" after after the healing period.

I'm doing fine but since reading this post I will definitely lay off the strawberries for a while. I was never told I couldn't have them.
