None Of My Pants Fit Anymore.

Recommended Posts

All of my pants are falling off and I refuse to buy any until after Christmas. All of my size 10's are too big. This is great but now I look all frumpy like I did before when I was trying to hide the fat rolls.LOL! Humor is the best medicine right?

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season!

BTW... A really sweet friend of mine gave me a whole bag of beautiful blouses. Thank the lord for the nicest friends a girl could have.

I went through the refuse to buy anything more stage. LOL did not last too long with me. If you don't want to spend much, try your local thrift store like Goodwill or a consignment shop. I get to try on tons of clothes and if I buy something it will not cost me a arm and a leg. And it usually tides me over until I am really able to shop like I want to.

I live in a college town so all the thrift stores around here think there stuff is new.lol I tell you what though...I think I'm scared of trying things on. I was always so disappointed before when things didn't fit. I just don't want to go through that anymore.

I'm that way too, only with my 14W's... I am right at that switch point between "womens" clothes and "regular" clothes and I refuse to buy anything until I am solidly a 12... I just won't. I hate trying on clothes and having them be too small. A good friend of my mom's brought me over a ton of 10's and medium tops... I can't wait until I can wear them :)

My friends gave me clothes too! My mom's friend came to visit, took pity on me and bought me a couple pairs of pants (I'm without work until after the holiday) I was wearing a 12 but when I got to the store I was into a 6/8....so I definately looked frumpy, actually it was beyond frumpy. I looked like a teenage boy...you know when they run and have to hold up the back of their pants so that they don't fall down. I think they used to call it "bustin a sag" when I was a teenager...

LOL! I know exactly what you mean. My boyfriend looked at me this morning and shook his head and said we gotta go shopping. You know if a man said that I should really go shopping.lol

I love shopping!! I keep saying I will wait, but I never do :-) I am an avid JC Penney shopper now. The interesting thing is that I never know what size I am until I get there. Even though I have a general size that I may usually fit into, there may be a certain cut of pants or shirt that fits differently. in the past, it would kill me to wear a size bigger than my normal size, but now its not a problem. Most of my pants are size 8 now, but I still have 2 pair of size 10 jeans that fit and are a little tight because of the way they are cut. It's truly OK with me now. When I try clothes on, I have to drag in at least 2 sizes of everything.

The worst for me is bra shopping - the sizes are so complicated to begin with...

I just spent $48 at Goodwill yesterday. I went through the rack at the size smaller than I thought I was and pulled off every pair of pants that looked decent. For me, this meant I was grabbing size 14s.

I then took the whole cart full of about 20 pairs of pants into the dressing room and started trying them on. I was picky about how they fit/felt. I ended up getting about six pairs that fit great.

I also tried on about 20 coats and didn't end up buying any of them because I just didn't like them. I even stopped by a real store to check out the coats thinking they might be on sale. They were, but even at 40 percent off I wasn't ready to spend that much.

It is so weird seeing how wide the range is in clothing. I tried on a size 4 coat that fit but decided I didn't like the design. I also tried on extra large coats that were too small because of the cut.

I see there is a Goodwill over in Bryan, not too far from Franklin. It would be worth the trip.

Like other posters, I have raided Goodwill as well. Spent $40 and got a couple pairs of jeans, dress slacks and some shirts. Each day they have 50% off a colored tag, so look for those for extra savings. Until I get to my "final" weight, I don't want the expense of replacing my wardrobe, but at the same time, I can't wear my size 40s and XXL shirts and sweaters, either. It makes me feel great when I go out in size 34 jeans and a M or L shirt and I know my wife likes it to. (which also benefits me, greatly)

For $40, I have some clothes that look nice, fit well and make me feel great about what this is all about.

I eat up posts like this! I've not had my surgery yet.... heck, I don't even have insurance approval (although my surgeons office says my insurance is extremely easy to get approval from and I've turned in everything they need) or a date set yet- but the idea that I could someday be in the position you are in.... having to buy a size smaller than a 10 because the 10 is too big makes me giddy!

Goodwill provided me with my winter business casual clothes for work this year. I literally had to start from scratch. All very stylish and name brand, from banana Republic, Gap and Ann Taylor. I got blazers, slacks, tops, sweaters, dresses for about $100 or less. Some of the items even had the orignal tags still on them whoo hoo!!!

I've been selling my larger clothes online to help pay for my new smaller clothes. It's not a large profit, but every little bit helps.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
