Life Insurance After Vsg

Recommended Posts

I am applying for additional life insurance coverage thru my employer and have to fill out a medical history. I had my VSG in 2010, in Mexico. My PCP here in the states knows about it, and it would be noted in my medical records here. And I am thinking, as I write this, that I have no choice but to include it in my medical history for the life insurance.

I just feel that putting Mexico on the application that I will get denied for the coverage (the form requires Dr/city/state). I don't know....maybe just being fearful of prejudice.....

Has anyone else experienced this? What would you do?

Thanks!

I have not heard of being denied life insurance, only personal medical policies. That's not to say it isn't a problem. I just haven't heard of it. Let us know the outcome. Good Luck.

I had a recent experience - I have had a life insurance policy for 30 years with a company. I wanted to raise the amount slightly (<100K) to make the math easier when splitting it up between the ultimate beneficiaries. I had to go through the entire process of applying for the policy like I was brand new. I had to go through an extensive interview process about the surgery and the results of all of my post surgery testing and health.

Because of the sleeve surgery, I wan't denied - but the premium is going to be slightly higher for the first two years than it otherwise would be. (I think $3-4 per month) After that period, the premium will go back down to my old rate.

This is pretty funny really. The chance of the insurance company having to pay off the policy are dramatically less after the sleeve than before (I was a walking advertisement for future heart attack victim). Oh, well - at least they wrote the policy.

Needless to say, I am not touching any of my other policies.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
