My Weight Loss, So Far, During 5th Week After Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Recommended Posts

This is how my wt has dropped this week. Down 1 pound on Sat, Sun and Mon. Total -3lbs. 0 on Sun. Up 1 pound Tues, but got my monthly "visitor" as well. 0 on Wed. Then down one on Thurs and Fri. Wow! Big change since that 3rd wk stall! A net loss of 4 in a wk!! I'm really happy with that. I said it before and I'll say it again, "it DOES keep getting better, just like they said it would"! Hang in there everyone who is frustrated in their first few weeks postop. I was in your shoes. I didn't believe them when they said that. But its true!! I promise. Big hugs

Great post Lisa;

At goal, sometimes it is difficult to post a believeable story that it does get better and to hang in there. No one said VSG would be a total breeze. You relearn habits, new ways of eating and drinking. You fight the stalls and stick with the VSG diet plan your surgeon perscribed. Always hang in there - the sleeve works!

I will admit that I thought I was tougher than I actually am. I get very discouraged with the postop diet, trying to get enough protein/water/calories, being more fatigued for the last 3 wks and the stalls. When did I turn into such a whimp?! Lol. This support site has been the thing that keeps me on the edge of sanity. The wonderful people give kind encouraging words. I feel like I should give that to the next new sleevers. I want to help those who may be stuggling like I have been. It's just so much change, diet info and emotions. Just want you all to know that I'm here for you too.

Great post! I am in my 4th week postop and it has gotten better in the last week. The first 3 weeks were not what I expected at all!! I have chosen to ONLY weigh when I go to the doctor each month. I might cheat and weigh 2-3 times within that month but I don't want my scales to determine if I pass or fail that day. Weight is only a set of numbers. Once you've had this surgery there is no way to gain weight each day. Obviously, we have chosen to permanently change our diet and the amount of what we eat. For many years I let the scales tell me if I failed each day. Never again!! :)

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

        So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

        That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

        I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

        Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
