I LOVE SMOKING, there I said it....

Recommended Posts

Okay so I was at a pack a day. I started back in June and for the last 3 days I have been smoking 3 cigs or less a day. I thought about going ot the ecig BUT i read that the amount of Nicotine can very so much depending on several factors and some where dangerously high. Also that the vapor has never been tested as far as inhaling it several times a day. I'm sure ecigs are better but just not sure how much better.

I quit with Chantix before too, but gained a lot of weight each time and the side effects are pretty rough sometimes. That being said, it WAS the only thing that did help me quit. When I reach 10 below goal I am going to use the chantix again. Another side note is, it makes your sugars sky rocket, so when I do use it again I will have to take my diabeties meds again for that whole time. I tried it post sleeve again and between the eating , the mood swings from the pill, and having to take my meds again because of the sugars, it was like a hurricane of bleck LOL. I'll wait till I'm 10 below goal to do it again so I have some wiggle room. :)

Ecigs are up to 99% safer than cigarettes. The Consumer Advocates for Smokefree Alternatives Association (casaa.org), a non-profit organization, has numerous studies posted on their website. Also, you can't believe everything you read (How many times have we all heard this?). The vapor has been tested and no dangerous materials were detected. Compare this to the tens of thousands of toxins found in cigarettes.

For anyone interested in learning more about ecigs, check out the CASAA website and e-cigarette forum.com. Not all ecigs are created equal and it may take some time to find the right equipment. I was spending over $300.00/month on cigarettes before discovering ecigs almost 2 years ago. I now spend an average of $75.00/month on ecig supplies. I've experienced the same health improvements as someone who quit smoking even though I still get nicotine with the ecig. It's not nicotine that causes health issues, it's the SMOKE.

Oops! Just noticed my typos!

We had to explain this to someone the other day. We hadn't had a chance to say we were at 0 nicotine before they said you know, that nicotine will still kill you. We explained that it is the additional 3500 chemicals, plus the smoke that is dangerous. Nicotine by itself is no more dangerous than caffeine. It is the delivery method that is dangerous. If we lived in a moist climate we would inhale more vapor then we do from the ecig. Living in the rainforest doesn't seem to shorten life expectancy so a little extra moisture shouldn't hurt anyone. Even if down the road they find out the moisture has negative side effects, it will still NEVER be as bad as smoking. I am now 10 days in and never going back. Spoke with some family the other day and found out that everyone, I mean everyone on one side of my family winds up with some sort of lung cancer. I am genetically predisposed to it already, I'm not playing that game....

There are benefits to nicotine - it enhances cognitive function (memory, attention) and may play a role in preventing Alzheimer's & Parkinson's disease. The anti-tobacco/nicotine crowd has done a good job demonizing not just smoke, but all tobacco/nicotine usage, and smokers, in their demented Quest to create the perfect, tobacco-free society. I do know that if the government had permitted truthful information about smokefree alternatives 20 years ago, I might not have needed WLS to lose all the weight I gained following every unsuccessful quit attempt. As it stands, the government still prohibits the dissemination of truthful information on smokeless alternatives by manufacturer's, but it can't silence the voices of private individuals who have discovered the truth.

Best of luck to you.

Ahhh!! I know how you feel! Having surgery on Dec 19th and have not had a smoke in a week. I'm doing the e-cig thing too, and I hate it!! I was like a junkie last week...digging through the ashtray that we keep outside for a hint of tobacco left. Pretty pathetic....but then I ask myself, which do I want more...to be thin, or a smoker... Do you know how long it takes to get nicotine out of your system??

It only takes 3-5 days to get nicotine out of your urine, but it can take up to a month to leave your blood. It depends on amount you smoked, how long you smoked and BMI. Drink lots of Water, that will help clear it out faster.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
