Sleeved 3 weeks ago

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have enjoyed reading a lot of your posts. I am 3 weeks sleeved today, had surgery on 10-3-11, and the dietitian has now moved me to pureed foods. Does anyone have any good tasting ideas for pureed food? Any help would be much appreciated. Also, does everyone have to do the pureed foods? Thanks

I just started puree/soft foods and so far I've tried hard boiled eggs (I can only eat half), split pea Soup, string cheese and tuna.< /p>

I also bought some frozen grilled fish (not breaded) and hummus (because they were on my approved list as well) but haven't tried it yet.

I'm still drinking Protein shakes to get most of my Protein in because food kind of scares me but I'm S L O W L Y trying things.

Good Luck to you!!!!!!

So far on pureeds I've enjoyed thick Soups (tomato with cream cheese swirled in), tuna/ chicken/ egg salads, Greek yogurt, sugar free pudding, refried Beans with cheese, laughing cow cheese wedges, and squash casserole. The only thing I can't handle that I've tried so far is Peanut Butter :( Even one spoonful blended into my shake makes me feel terrible for a couple of hours.

All is good except I have a new-found aversion to the Protein shakes in the past 36 hours. I even tried the clear Isopure drinks today with no luck. I don't get nauseated, but I am really turned off by them. Weird - I'm 3 weeks out from surgery and I've been drinking them fine fir 5 weeks now.

Hi Tuttle,

I have lost 16 pounds so far. Not as much as i would like but I'm kinda glad it's going about a pound or half a pound a day. Please don't get discouraged.

I haven't been able to puree anything and eat it, it is just not tasting good. I have been eating lots of cottage cheese with salt and pepper, or sometimes salsa. I have been having meat and I chew it about 30 times. That seems to be okay. Today I actually had a Protein shake, I like the Pure Protein chocolate so far. Keep in touch since we had our surgeries on the same day.

Pick up some canned or jarred gravies, chicken, beef, etc. I found if you don't overcook the meat, have it tender, mixed in with gravy it comes out easy to chew and if you chew it like 50 times it is same as puree. Also liked soft scrambled eggs with deviled ham. Vegetables steamed well so they can be mushed with a fork worked well. Also mashed potatoes, even baked potato (not skin) as well as soft fruits like peaches and bananas are good, just don't have skins, hard to digest at 3 weeks.

My saving grace has been pureed Lentil Vegetable Soup (Amy's Organic); I puree in a baby bullet I purchased and heat up .. .it tastes good and it's got 8 grams of Protein per serving .. if you like lentils, you'll like this ... or if you like an other Beans (black beans), maybe try a can of black bean vegetable soup & puree .. that too has Protein in it re: Beans (I'm not a black bean person but I do love lentils).

Was sleeve on 9/24, so still eating mushies, although today was able to keep down a few slices of turkey .. but my tummy really likes pureed foods much better at this point ... so I'm doing what's best for my tummy right now (I tried mushy tunafish, but that didn't work for me just yet).

Also, applesauce (although it doesn't have protein in it), and cottage cheese (which does has protein) works for me. I also pureed some cream spinach and that worked well for me too, although drinking pureed green stuff is kind of gross when I actually looked what I was having (reminded me of those nutty people who juice spinach! ha!)

Keep up the good work!

RG

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
