What is the max calories sleever's should intake a day? I feel i'm doing pretty good so far. I was sleeved April 14th 2011 and so far I have lost 75 lbs and went from a size 24 to a size 16 pushin 14 and I feel great despite the difficulty I had in the beggining not being able to keep foods down and being hospitalized due tonot getting enough nutrition. But I can eat pretty much anything except fried food don't agree with me or rich sweets. But I still feel like I need some form of sweet every day. I need to regain control. How ever my true question is.....What's the max amount of calories should us sleever's take in to continue good weight loss.

Thanks

My doctor told me to eat 600-800 calories a day until I reach my goal weight, and then I can increase it to 1200 calories a day to maintain my weight.

You may want to consult your doctor or nutritionist, though, because it varies for everyone.

I am physically restricted to where (6 months out), I have gotten to 1400 calories on a few days where I used 200 calorie Protein bars to hit the Protein on days on the run. My average is about 1100-1150. And I am no where near my goal. My surgeon is fine with it. And I feel much, much better at 1100 a day than when I was 3 months out and eating 500-600 a day. I really could not have done that for the year I need to get to goal. And very glad I'm not in a program that requires it. My program actually does not give an caloric value. They are more interested in what you are eating that makes up those calories. You won't hear too much from them unless they suspect you are really eating junk.

I'm only 2 months out and eat 1000-1200 calories a day. I'm still losing 1.5-2 pounds per week. My doc is very happy with my nutrition and my weight loss. I exercise regularly and eat Protein dense foods. Good luck to you :)

I am 8.5 months out from surgery and I eat between 700-800 calories daily. I am nearly to goal and will start adding calories back when I want to maintain, but I am still losing slowly and want to continue. I eat sweets on special occasions that occur maybe once a month--I might have a couple bites of cake or some chocolate--but I don't eat them regularly because then I crave more. Been there, done that, not doing it again.

Hey,

I am 14mths out - not at goal YET... at around 6mths my cals were 700-900 a day and I have recently started logging again to check I am still on the right path and they are between 850 and 1100... I am a real slow loser and sometimes I wonder if I am eating enough!!!

I suppose, truth is, we are all different and our bodies will react differently to the same guidlines.... I say, do what is right for you, what makes you 'feel' good and what gets the pounds moving!

Good luck =]

I track my calories on Myfitnesspal.com and I am between 800 and 1000 calories per day. If you are on myfitnesspal.com look me up my username is cgreg1277.

When you track your food it gives you a great idea of your Protein, sugar, sodium. You can really see what you are doing right and what you can change. Tracking your intake is a great tool in helping you fight the weight loss battle.

One of the things that I have found while doing my research is that if you eat too few calories and don't do much exercise, your body can go into starvation mode, and your weight loss will slow to a stop. One of the best ways I have found to make sure that you are moving enough is to invest in a Bodybugg or something like it that calculates how many calories you burn.

The problem is that if you aren't moving, your metabolism will slow to a stop and that's not good.

Keep up the great work!

This thread has made me do a little thinking and a little research... I am going to up my cals (in the form of good cals...lol) for a couple of weeks to 1000-1200 to see if my body reacts in a more positive way... I am starting to think, after reading many, many posts and info, that perhaps I am not eating enough, which is why my bodu is holding on to the last 14-28lbs?

Wish me luck ...

I think that's a wonderful idea. Hopefully that will get things moving for you. It's certainly worth a try.

Aww thanks Sunshine...

this is the only tip I haven't tried cos I was scared to eat too much... but I am thinking as long as it is good quality food and not junk, what harm can the extra do? Right?

Have you worked out where you are with your cal intake now? =]

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
