when do the incisions completely heal?

Recommended Posts

Everyone is different, but for me, it was about 10 days. I kept neosporin and bandaids on them at night when I slept and took them off before my shower.

Well on the outside about 10 days. I don't think everything is healed on the inside though because at my 2 week post-op appointment I was told no heavy lifting and still no weight machnes at the gym.

I have dissolvable sutures and steri-strips on my incisions. The steri-strips still haven't come off (I'm on day 8) and I can still see the sutures. I'm guessing mine are likely to stick around a little longer. They do itch, though.

Okay, well, I'm almost 9-10 weeks out and I have 3 incisions that still leak and itch. I was told by my doc's office that this is normal because there's no pus, no foul smell, and no fever. I was told that at 5 weeks it would be completely healed and that after that I could go swimming, etc. Nope, didn't happen. Sigh!! I have my 3 month appointment next week and I will be mentioning this forsure.

I was told to not put anything on my incisions at all. For the itching, my surgeon told me I could take a benedryl. You could "lightly rub" over the incisions - that won't open them up and it will give some relief (I did that). Supposedly they are healed in about 6 weeks, but mine will be longer than that because the internal stitching is not dissolving and my body is slowly pushing the thread out. However, all are healed over on the outside and I should be cleared to start exercising and going in the pool in 2 weeks when I go back for my checkup.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
