Hi Deb! Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new here myself, but I've already found some great people to talk to. I'm in Hawthorne by the way, so we're pretty close! I hope your insurance agrees this time - I'm waiting on the same thing.

Hi Everyone...

Just stoping by to introduce myself...Im also in So Cal..North Hollywood...got my band on 12/12. ..Im excited for my weight loss. I would love to meet new band buddies to share our expiriences thoughts & ideas with our new live change. Thats why I here...Hope to meet & greet with some of you!

LBT IS A GREAT PLACE FOR SUPPORT AND EDUCATION..

This thread isn't that active - most pple post to the thread for the month they were banded in - age and some other..

If any of you have any questions - I will try and answer - but first and foremost - ALWAYS follow your doctors instructions and not that of others - each doc had different programs..

Congrats on being banded - and for those who aren't - I can tell you I love my band and Me for the work it takes to get to goal...

I LIVE IN RIVERSIDE CA. AND WORK IN LONG BEACH ANY SUPPORT GROUPS?? MY NAME IS MICHELLE 36 MY BAND DATE IS 1/28/09:w00t:

Hey Michelle,

I'm in Riverside as well. I see your band date is coming up quickly. I've been banded since May of 07 and I love it. Who's doing your band?

Hello Michelle and Tami I am also in Riverside and got banded on 12/15/08 by Dr. Coon. I am doing ok. Just seems like the weight is coming off alot slower than so many other people that I read of this thread I wonder if I am doing anything wrong. I am eating between 1200 and 1500 cal a day. I am working out about 30 min a day. Any advice?

I am in Oceanside ( san Diego area ) I would love to join a group. I am just getting started

Hi AmyUSMCwife,

I'm also from Oceanside, and I'm also in the UCSD program. Right now, I'm in month 5 of my 6-month supervised diet (required by my PPO), and I'll have my final "weigh-in" on Feb. 9--then UCSD will resubmit the paperwork to my insurance. By the way, I'm very impressed with the UCSD program & staff.

Best of luck on your weigh loss journey!

I am also just getting started. I am having my surgery on Feb.19, 2009 . in just a few weeks !! :(

Anyone know of any local meetings in SBdno or Riverside County ? the only one i have heard of is in Rancho Cucamonga. Are there any other ones??

Welcome to you all

Lilmisscarell - doesn't your doctor offer support group... Mine does at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs - if you are in Riverside area - I think that might just be a tad to far to drive..

mroseharvey - you have a lower bmi so you won't lose as fast plus you should most likely switch up your calories to 1000 -1200 a day - in my weight loss phase - I kept my calories between 800-1200 varied them daily and worked out 30-45 min 4-5 days a week and never hit a plateau..

Thank you so much IndioGirl for the information. WOW you have done a great job. I am very very happy for you and I hope I am as successful as you. If you don't mind sharing can you give some meal guidance.

First of all - take the word HOPE out of your vocabulary - replace it with WILL - Posititive affirmations

You want to know the secert - it's to focus on eating healthy - allow for treats occaissionally and exercise - this has never been a diet for me - this has been about a lifetime lifestyle change in my eating and exercise habits - I eat low fat - limited sugars most sf - and some carbs/starches... I exercise...

BF - Weigh Control Oatmeal 160 c - Dannon Lite n Fit Yogurt with 1/4 cup granola 150 c - Eggbeaters Omelet 1/2 c with a little cheese 100 c

Lunch - for me it's usually left overs from the night before (fish or turkey meat loaf - chicken etc & a veggie) - plus I make what I call 1 pot wonders on sunday nights and then I have lunch for the week - a one pot wonder is just stuff thrown in a pan and cook - example - ground turkey - onion bell pepper garlic zuchinee tomatoe sauce - or chicken bell pepper onion garlic - whatever veggie your like and tomato sauce - you got the idea?? 1 cup is my portion size - I go out to lunch maybe once every couple of weeks - and have a few lean cusines in the fridge for emergencies - but I don't like processed foods much rather have home cooked foods

Dinner - I eat tons of fish - I still eat fish most nights - I eat catfish (and it's good pple always turn up their noses at it but it's not as fish as salmon) Salmon - Talipia - Chicken - Turkey meat loaf - or one pot wonder - veggies with I can't believe it's not butter spray and 1/4-1/2 cup of rice

4 oz of protein - 1/4 to 1/2 c veggies and then 1/4-1/2 c rice.. (sometimes have tatoes or pasta instead)

Snacks - 100 cal popcorn snack pack - sf fudgecicles - sf dark choc pudding - LF string cheese - fruit - sf yogurt..

My GF had surgery there too (bypass Dr Philip French last name) and they do have a support group here in the Desert for his pple.. So ck w/them they might know of one in your area...

For me LBT has been my support - my Lucky #7 gang and my 50+ gang - LBT is open 24/7 - I went to mine once - it's like 25 miles away - I like lbt better - but some pple do better in a group setting -

Thank you IndioGirld for taking the time and sharing your meals with me. Well I have to admit that I am eating pretty much what you are. So that makes me very happy. Thank you again. And your right....I will DO this. Was your weight loss about 1-2 lbs per week or was it more? May I ask what kind of exercise you do and for how long? You are true inspiration to me. Rose

My weight loss varied 1 lbs one week 2 the next then maybe 2.5 or 1.5 and a few weeks I may have lost 3 and a couple times for and then some weeks just 1/2 lbs - But If I remember correctly it was usually around 1.5 a week.. double Click on my ticker - and it will show my history - but truly I was just happy that each week was a loss - cuz it all added up - if you take 105 lost (250 to 145 1 yr 1 week) that averages to 8.75 a month that's 2.19 a week average even though it did vary... It's gone so that's all I really cared about and I strived and worked very hard to get the weight off in 1 yrs time.

The statistic say that we will only lose 50 to 60% of our excess weight - well heck what are they saying that fat chicks don't have the will power to lose all their excess weight - I wanted to prove them wrong and I am a little competitive and stubborn :tt1: I didn't like someone saying that I couldn't do it - I am the kind of person that will show someone I can do it when the say I can't:sneaky:

Exercise - I did the treadmill for the first 8 months started slow like 1 mile in 25 minutes and every few weeks I would increase my speed and # of miles walked (1 hr max workout time and i think in the beginning I did 1/2 hr then worked up to 45 then 1 hr - occasionally on a Saturday morning I might do 1 1/2 hrs as I have the time and energy as I go after work each day) and I went to the gym 5 times a week - M T W F Sat (took Thurs & sun off)- I am up to 3 or 3.5 miles in 48 speed 4. on flat surface and 3.5 on inclines up to 8 - 3.0 on inclines above. In March I got a personal trainer and started working weights - so then I did weights 2x week and treadmill 2x week - some weeks I might only get 1 day of treadmill - but I still have my trainer and do my weights 2x week. So in maintenance I strive for 4 days a week but sometimes life gets in the way and I only make it 3 :cursing: Janet
