I've been reading the posts for a few weeks now and even adding my 2 cents now and then but haven't said much about how I got here. At almost 60 years of age I have tried a lot of different strategies to lose weight. I was a chubby child and was closest to a normal weight for the first time when I was in college. After that it's been a yo-yo. My most recent "success" was about 14 years ago when I lost 100 lbs and have gained all that back plus 25 more. The turning point came when the youngest of my 4 grandkids asked if I was pregnant because my belly stuck out so far over my lap; now that knocked the wind out of my sails. So as I struggled with diabetes, high blood pressure, bad knees and other medical problems I realized that I could have a whole lot of good life ahead of me.

Today was my pre-op educational seminar at the hospital. Friday is the last of the hospital paperwork and surgery is set for Monday morning. Now that I'm so close I'm getting a bit nervous about all the upcoming changes. I am lucky to have great support from family. I'm even managing the 2 week, all liquid diet without too much trouble though I haven't pee'd this much since I was pregnant. One of my greatest challenges is the exercise. I've started walking but the heat wave in the East put a real crimp in that for several days. But, for the first time in my life, I missed getting out for my evening walks. Maybe there is hope for my succeeding.

Well, good luck to everyone else who has undertaken this journey and it is great to know that you are out there ready to answer my questions, listen to my gripes, and share my small steps forward.

Welcome to the forums! You'll do great on Monday.

I agree, it's so hot outside that it's hard to get a walk in. However, what I have been doing is walking in place while watching TV. It does help - and then I have the air conditioning. I absolutely HATE malls - so I don't go to them. I have walked around stores before - usually when I am shopping, I'll just add in some extra walking around to get the exercise in.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
