If anyone had told me I'd feel this good five days post op, I would have thought they were crazy! Like everyone says, every day gets better and better. My biggest issue was from one incision that wasn't healing as fast as the rest. I put an ice pack on that incision on Saturday and by Sunday, all the swelling, redness, etc. had disappeared. My pain level was never very high - even in the hospital. I haven't taken any pain meds since Friday (my first day home). There's minor discomfort now, but nothing to get worked up about. I've lost 15 pounds since I started the pre-op diet on 07/11 and 7 of those pounds just in the past five days. My blood sugars went down to normal before I was discharged from the hospital on Friday and haven't been above 100 since!

That is so GREAT!!!! Congratulations! I hope you continue to feel good. Just remember to take it slow....don't do too much even if you feel good. Don't want to pull something or bend a staple. Take it easy! I hope my surgery goes as smoothly on Friday! I can't wait to watch your ticker go down. :) ((hugs))

What a blessing! I hope my recovery is as easy! Can I ask....have you guys been hungry at all post-op? I am on my third day of liquids and am weak and starving.

Honestly, the liquid pre-op was much worse than the post op. I am on day 4 and I can not believe I am not at all hungry. But I must say when I am back to eating regular food I might never eat Jello again.

I haven't been hungry at all since surgery. My prescribed diet is pureed meals until next week when I will get to start eating soft foods. I haven't felt hungry nor weak. I'm not sure why some facilities/doctors tell patients to stay on a liquid diet in the beginning. That has to be very difficult!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
