"So...what are you having for your last meal?"

Recommended Posts

So, my husband has asked me at least 10 times "What are you having for your big, last meal?" I tell him that I am having elective surgery...not going to the electric chair. I do not even get this mentality. He acts as if I will never be able to eat food again. I figure that at some point in the future I will be able to eat things I want...just not in the quantities I am used to. I used to have that "last meal" mentality for years before going on a "diet". I really no longer think of food in those terms. I hope this is a sign that I have changed my outlook regarding food (I've worked hard at doing so the last several months in preparing for surgery).

I, too, don't quite see it as "last meal". I thought more in terms of quantity, like I'll never eat 5 slices of pizza again, or 3 sausage and gravy biscuits. It's kinda weird, but I was feeding my 7 week old and thought, wow, she eats more than I will in a few weeks.

Sounds like my husband too, I am so tired of hearing "you know you won't be able to ever eat that again"

I plan on eventually eating what ever I want just within reason. I have totally screwed myself in the past with fatalistic thinking. I AM hoping, however, that my cravings are significantly less with the sleeve.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
