Mine was in my throat, they pulled it out when I was still out.

Sorry your plication didn't work out. I've heard a couple of these not doing so well. It's great to hear that you love your sleeve and I'm sure you will continue to get all your excess weight off. Cheers to you!

Wait...I haven't had this surgery yet! Your awake when they pull the tube out of your nose? I thought it went down the throat. ugh

They told me I would need to be awake before they could take the tube out, but that I might not remember it happened. I don't remember them removing the tube at all!

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I had a plication surgery 2 months ago. and im concerned a lot because I feel that it might have failed. This might be only a high degree of worry, and nothing failed or so .. so I need to make sure and ask, WHAT proves that things went wrong? how do i know it failed?

The first month I lost about 12 kilograms, and then the 2nd month, as I stopped liquids and started eating low portions of dietary food, i lose only 4 or 5 kgs ... the rate of losing weight is becoming much less. I asked the dr. they said that there might be a period of "pausing" and then i will start losing wieght again normally.

the other question is, i remember that the dr. said that plication does make the stomach smaller, but within the first 3 months it's going to be extra small, and then it will start taking a different (larger) size, but of course not the same size as pre-operation. So is it normal that i now feel more hungry than before, and that i can take larger portions?

I did not gain any weight, but still the rate of losing weight is very slow ...

i need some kind of assurance that im on the right track ..

thanks a lot :)

Well, I can only give you my opinion on this since I had the sleeve. If you read most of the posts on here, most people who stick to their Dr.'s guidelines loose weight at a pretty nice steady pace for the first few months, and maybe up to 6 months, with an occasional stall here or there. From what I understand, the plication does not remove the ghrelin matter which affects appetite and one of the reasons so many people report that they have a much reduced appetite from having the sleeve. You mention feeling more hungry and so that may be part of it. The other part I would wonder is what size bougie your Dr. used in sizing your new stomach. My Dr. used a size 30. The bougie is simply a tool somewhat like a ball point pen that is used as a guide for them when they are sizing your new stomach. Some Dr.'s will use as high as a 42 or 46, personally I would never agree to a Dr wanting to make my stomach that large- there is just no reason for it.

I think you have reason to be concerned, but at this point, you are on your journey. Since you are experiencing hunger issues, I would do your best to focus on healthy Protein and veggies, incorporate a regular exercise program and do your best to stay away from the slider foods and bad carbs. Last resort if down the road you are not seeing the results you want, you might consider having this revised to a regular sleeve. That's just my 2 cents.

How are you doing now with your surgery? I had the super sleeve two years ago in July. I just wonderful with it. I was 130 lbs and a size 4 BUT then I got pregnant with my wonderful son and now my stomach doesn't seem to be helping. I think since I went off my diet while I was pregnant I stretch my stomach. When I was on the diet for the first year I didn't eat bread or Pasta so I'm starting to wonder if my stomach couldn't handle the bread/pasta expanding. Did the doctors talk about extra risks when going from the PLICATION to the VSG? Like the stomach being thin or part of the stomach being dead? Is your hunger better with the VSG? My email is maetarr@yahoo.com

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
