Monday my Potassium was 3.1. They tried to give me potassium via IV and it COOKED my veins, so they had to stop. Doctor sent me home and told me to try banana's...which I did...not successfully. I did find a Protein Shake that had like 500 mg of potassium and I was able to get in half of it. Last night I was up til 3 a.m with leg cramps and this morning it was no better. I called the office and they are sending me for a STAT potassium level. I just hope and pray this gets resolved quickly...and to be honest...I'm so over it. I just want to recover like a normal person. UGH.

There seems to be a lot of stuff posted recently about potassium. I think Gatorade or G2 helps balance electrolytes. I hope you get it resolved soon!!

I am so sorry! Potassium levels are nothing to screw around with. I hope they can get them back up quickly. Did they have you do the liquid potassium supplement? That is some NASTY stuff, but it seems to be working for me. I had my levels checked yesterday and I'm up to 4.0.

I just got a PICC line inserted today because I no longer have any veins. They've resorted to take blood out of my finger today. NO FUN! Oh and my potassium hasn't come up at all. I can tell you I am not a chick that cries, but I've been like a running faucet all day. I am so emotional and so over it. I just want to be complication free. Thank you all for letting me vent here and for your kind words.

Imawhodat, are you close to me? I'm in Covington and would happily come visit if you'd like to see a friendly fellow sleever. I feel so bad that you've had it so hard!! Hope you feel better fast, and holler if there's anything I can do for you. Meg

I'm so sad to hear that it's not going better today. Thanks for the update....please keep us posted. Do they think the problem with your veins is related to the low potassium?

Meg

I live in Long Beach, MS. But I'm in Slidell in the hospital. I'm going home in the morning but I would love to meet sometime. :)

I was just in Long Beach/Biloxi a couple weeks ago. I hope you get this resolved soon. Are they giving you something to take for when you get home tomorrow?

So sorry this is happening to you. Can you drink gatorade? I never get enough fluids in, so I know it's best for me to drink gatorade to help with the electrolyte situation.

Good luck to yousmile.gif

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
