My surgeon gave me a grocery shopping list for things to have on hand after surgery. Keep in mind each surgeon's diet plan is a bit different, but here are some things from my list:

skim milk

plain Greek yogurt (or CarbMaster)

egg substitute

fat-free cottage cheese

Water packed tuna

lean beef, chicken, turkey, fish (for blending/puree)

carrots or green Beans (again for blending)

low sodium Tomato sauce

low sodium vegetable Soup

low sodium V8

unsweetened canned fruit

unsweetened applesauce

cream of wheat

oatmeal (old fashioned)

cream of rice

mashed potatoes (made with chicken broth, no butter or sour cream)

winter squash or sweet potatoes

low fat mayo or low fat miracle whip

crystal light

sugar free kool aid

sugar free hot chocolate

sugar free popsicles

sugar free Syrup flavorings

sugar substitute

flavoring extracts

true lemon packets

Strangely enough, I am relatively calm right now. I was really nervous last week before my EGD, but now I'm not. I had trouble today with head hunger - but I didn't cave like I would have if I wasn't about to have surgery. We'll see how I do tomorrow.

Actually, I'm a bit nervous about this family reunion I have to attend next weekend. It's in MD and will be 10.5 hour drive each way. I'm driving out on Thursday and driving back on Sunday. Friday and Saturday are going to be jam packed with things including a dinner on Saturday night that I won't be able to eat. I haven't quite figured out how I'm going to do my pre-op diet for this event yet. Obviously, I'll be taking my Protein powder so I can mix the shakes, but not quite sure how I will get in the other 6 servings of food a day yet. I'm sure I'll figure something out though.

I'm also moving at the end of July to an apartment. I'm currently renting a room from some friends and have decided to get my own apartment to help save money (yeah, that's what I said - save money by moving out of my friends house). My application was just approved earlier this week and I was given the move in date of July 29. I have been working the phones to make the necessary arrangements for power, internet/tv. I've also been researching where I can get furniture as I will need everything (I'm not moving my junky and heavy furniture from my house in Michigan to Ohio). I think that's probably why I'm not as nervous about the surgery - that's been my focus for the last 3 days.

I imagine come July 11 I will be a wreck though. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
