I am five weeks post op and all of a sudden my incisions have started itching. I find myself scratching my stomach all the time and looking like a nut. Since day one after the surgery I have put cocoa butter and mederma on my scars to reduce the appearance and really they are just specs now so that worked but the itching is driving me crazy. Is this normal so far after surgery.

I was told it is part of the healing process. I was also told not to put anything on them right after surgery..Wish I could help you!

Thanks Kelli. If it's normal I am ok. I just thought it would have occured a lot sooner.

Oh yah that's totally normal. I try and scratch AROUND the incision instead of directly on the incision so I don't disturb the tissue directly.

Mine were SUPER itchy also for the last 2 weeks. I had red raised rashes over all my incisions but now it is much better. From what I see and hear, it is normal as long as your incisions are clean and not leaking.

I am one month out and they FINALLY don't itch......Yeah!

Dawn :)

I'm almost three months out, and my incisions itch like crazy!! Actually, it seems that they itch more now, than ever before! That's actually a sign of healing, so as they heal on the inside, I guess it's to be expected. My doc told me yesterday that cocoa butter, and breaking open a Vitamin e capsule, and rubbing it on them, would really help.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
