Hi All - I have cigna and am getting all my T's crossed and I's dotted. I am wondering as far as documentation of your 6 months of weight loss attempts are they a nightmare? I wont have any gaps at all and will have my PCP send in chart notes documenting weight, diet & exercise as required. I will also have him include a letter explaining his support.

Have any of you been hassled by them? I dont want to go through being denied because I missed something silly. I will be pushing it as far as end of the year and dont want to screw myself and end up having to pay another deductable.

Thanks in advance for any experience, suggestions or comments you may have.

I have Cigna also. So I am hoping it is not a nightmare. Praying for a smooth quick approval.

I have HealthPartners, which is part of the Cigna network although is not, strictly speaking, Cigna itself. But it's a PPO. However, I am having difficulty with them at the moment. Please make sure you are fully aware of all the requirements well before your surgery date is in sight.

I didn't have any problems with Cigna at all. I did wind up with a bill after the surgery that was a bit higher than I'd expected. But the insurance was okay.

My approval with cigna took about 1 1/2 weeks. My PCP included my 6 month diet and a letter of recommendation. Also had a few other dr reports... Nothing required. My approval was denied but it was because my referral letter and nutritional plan from my PCP wasn't there. Once that was sent in, it was quickly approved. Let me know if you have any questions... Good luck!!!

Wow Cigna is trolling this site. Hmmm. I must admit I there is no such thing as privacy on the internet but at the same time I do feel kinda violated.

Referral letter? I am not aware of this requirement. It isnt a problem, but what specifically is it? I didnt see it in any of the information I read from Cigna or from any calls I have made to customer service.

My surgeon required one from my PCP - all it is is a letter that indicates your attempts at loosing the weight over the last few months/years and that they support you having the surgery. Most doctors will know what they need to put in the letter.

Yeah, I know. Me too.

I have Cigna. I just made sure I knew exactly what they required. I made sure I had everything. My surgeons office was helpful with this as well. They wouldn't even submit it until they knew I had completed everything. Once I did, it took about a week to get approved.

Cigna is being great with my pre-op surgery requirements. Just as the others stated, have all your paperwork in order and submitted. My surgeon has been great as well as my PCP. Cigna is one of the best insurance companies my surgeon to work with. Good Luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
