This is one topic I don't think I have come across yet. Are you able to tolerate spicy foods as well as you did prior to surgery? I am guesing you would. Do you have to wait awhile before doing so? Just curious.

I can tolerate spicy. I like my nose to run when I eat peppers. But I waited to eat them until about 3 mos after surgery.

It's wierd before I had surgery I couldn't really tolerate spicy food because of acid reflux. Now after surgery the hotter the better and one time my hubby said these wings we were eating were too hot for him and they were perfect for me. So now I guess you can say I tolerate spicy food better

How odd, I was just saying the other night to my husband "OMG those smell so good!" about his super hot wing. He was in tears they were so hot and he loves spicy food. I never have and just smelling it would make my nose run. He jerked the box away (AS IF I'm going to eat one?! the dork!) and was like "these are NOT for your new tummy, trust me!" well DUH! but after a few months, I'm going to try something spicy because it smelled delicious!

I guess it's true, your tastes really do change a bit..or a lot in my case lol

Hi,

This is a question I did not think to ask! I am glad that people are tolerating spicy foods well, because I love them and I would be so sad to give up my Tapatio sauce. In the past few years I have been getting "swollen taste buds" after eating peppers, but I love them so much that I just deal with it.

Fitting that I make my first forum post in a spicy food thread. Hi everyone! B)

I have had NO restriction on spicy foods, I love them too. In fact my tastes have changed pretty radically and most things taste super bland to me and I often choose spicier alternatives just to get SOME taste. Of course YMMV

Hello all,

the Kaiser Nurse Manager/Instructor at the orientation said that spicy foods are definitely ok. In fact they consider spices and tabasco like products "free foods". So, spice away! :D

Miscellaneous Items can be used freely:

Spices and seasonings (pepper, garlic

powder, Tabasco, Mrs. Dash, etc.)

Vinegar, Soy Sauce, Horseradish,

Worcestershire Sauce

Sugar substitutes (Splenda, Equal, Sweet n

Low, etc.)

Low fat cooking spray (PAM, etc)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
