VSG 6/15/11 hard time getting in liquids

Recommended Posts

When will the gurgling bubbly sensation below my breastbone go away every time I take a little sip? I am only on track for about 32 ounces today because if I take bigger sips I wretch :( Please tell me it gets better, soon!

I had my surgery yesterday and I get the gurgling with every sip too. My doc told me if I am drinking 32 by next wednesday I will be doing great. That being said, you are doing great and I wouldn't push it.

Yeah, the noises that come with this in the beginning are a little disconcerting to say the least LOL. I didn't get all my liquids in until almost 2 weeks out, so it does get better. ;)

I was sleeved on the 16th and have noticed it too. Usually I get a nauseated sensation, then it feels very tight and strange, then a huge gurgle and the nausea passes. So weird.

I'm on my 12th day since surgery. I am drinking just over 32 oz at this point. It is hard to get it down, I feel a big lump in my throat and then hopefully I burp! Sipping throughout the day is going to have to become a new habit for me.

THE LUMP IS KILLING ME! But I just read it is ACID REFLUX. It could be other things, but I am guess this is what it is since alot of people have it. Burps don't even really make it go away it is swelling. I guess that is one of the reasons why people are on Prilosec or Prevacid.

That tightness you all are feeling is the swelling of the stomach. Your esophogus is trying to push the water/liguid down into your stomach and when there's too much liquid the esophogus begins to contract (or squeeze) until it gets all the liquid down. This is normal but it is painful. I unfortunately had this pain for weeks after surgery cuz I was a slow healer. It wasnt until just recently that I've been able to gulp again and not feel this pain. My advice to all of you is to take smaller sips more often rather than trying to get a lot of liquid in at one time.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
