Need MOTIVATION to go to the gym!

Recommended Posts

I don't know what's wrong with me; maybe it's because the weight is coming off so quickly compared to pre-op. But I can't seem to stay motivated to go to the gym! I've always been an athlete and worked out (I just loved to eat) but now i'm content with staying home for some reason. I have a wedding that i'm in in July 20th its a strapless dress and i really want to loose 25 more lbs by then...so does anyone have any suggestions on staying motivated???

Thanks!

Hang the dress up in a place that you would see it everyday :)

or hang up your largest size pants as a reminder of where you don't want to be.

I have the same problem, I hate going to the gym, especially alone, so I like to go with someone :)

Get in that gym and work hard for that moment when you step in that strapless dress and wow everyone! You can do it, just go a couple days a week and you will feel sooo good!

You could try some workout DVDs. That way you can pretty much have your workout done in the time it takes you to get to the gym. I enjoy rebounding and Step with Caribbean Workout and "10 Minute Solution - Ultimate Kettlebell Fat Burner" is OK if you only have time for a quick workout (does strength and cardio).

I'm also gonna dust off my Barry's Bootcamp DVDs as those guys are very inspiring! tongue.gif

HIya Curvy,

You've already had some good ideas... I love the one about hanging the dress up... I have a pair of size 14(UK) trousers on the back of my bedroom door... I try them on now and again to see if they fit me properly... I can now do them up, still too tight to wear in public though!!

Motivation for the gym/work out is a good one... At the moment, my weight loss is horrically slow... painfully slow. I have lost about 12lb since the beginning of the year!! BUT... and this is a big BUT, in the last 8 weeks ( a weight loss of just 6lb) I have gone down a whole dress size... I am putting this down the the boxing training that I started in Feb. This is a great form of motivation for me... ok so the scales ain't moving, but I ain't gaining and I am getting smaller... isn't that the whole point?

Without exercise you will lose weight with the sleeve... imagine that weight loss where there is firm muscle underneath the skin... how sexy will that lil strapless number look then... sexy is a good motivator don't cha think!!!

Good luck... =]

I think finding something you want to do or something you want to work for can also be tons of motivation. I want to run the half marathon at Disney in January so I started the couch to 5k program to start. I now have a goal and it isn't half as hard to get motivated.

Hi Curvy! I love to workout as well. I just wanted to tell you that I had a hard time with getting back into the swing post op too. I think it must have taken months! I just felt incredibly lazy, which I do attribute it to the 6 weeks of liquids and tiny portions. Now today I have much more energy to get them done! :)

You should join our social group for those of us who enjoy working out or just need the daily motivation to keep doing them. I agree, you will look SMASHING in that dress if you keep your body toned up. It will be so worth it!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
