Anyone else sick of the pre-op diet???

Recommended Posts

I had a pre-op diet, but mine was a very well balanced diet. It was 3oz Protein, 1 c. vegetables, 1 c fruit, 1 carb and 1 fat and 1 dairy.

It was very easy to stick to and I did it for about 5 months and lost 55 lbs. I could never do all those Protein drinks, so KUDOS to you!! YUCK!

Good luck to you!!

:D

I am scheduled for the sleeve surgery on June 12th. I leave for a vacation to Toronto on the 4th so I'll be on the preop diet while on my vacation--uck! I will have two protien shakes perday and then a small meal for dinner--veggies and a portion of lean meat. I will begin tomorrow with my pre-preop diet (self-imposed) of replacing Breakfast with a Protein Shake. What about preop Vitamins? Is anyone else getting set by taking extra supplements?

Kelly- Was that a per day food intake or per meal?? I start my pre-op diet at the end of June but if I drop a few more pounds before, I only have to do it for a few days. Your diett sounds fairly simple!

Thanks,

Leslie

You know, even though I am postop- I am still sick of the pre-op diet! :D It is harder than being post-op so just know that. Even though I am going on my fifth week of thin liquids including that 2 weeks, I now have no hunger and that is a BIG difference.

Know that you are really helping yourself get ready for this new phase in your life, that it really will help your liver be ready for surgery, and that aside from the first few days of post surgery recovery when you may have trouble getting anything down- it really will never be this bad again. You will be able to eat anything you want again in the future and you will finally lose the weight.

Good luck to everyone on the 27th! I will be your den Mom , being 18 days ahead of you. :P

I think you are doing the right thing starting now and her is why. I cheated twice in my two weeks- once at a wedding we photographed because I just couldn't work 10 hours without eating- I had some chicken and vegetable only. I also had a piece of pizza three days before my surgery- I had gone to my GP to possible have mu surgery canceled due to a cold and my husband, knowing how I'd be feeling if it was canceled, got me a small pizza with my favorite toppings a- then my surgery was not canceled. I ate the toppings off of a piece and felt fine about it. I followed the diet carefully every other day- nothing but liquids, 70 grams Protein a day- lots of water- and lose 18 pounds pre surgery.

My doctor specifically said that my liver looked great. So, shocking as this advice will seem- I think you can pick one day on your vacation and have a nice dinner. Just one- and not if it will throw you off the plan completely. STarting early will give you even more assurance. And vacation next year will be wonderful!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
