Starting to freak out about surgery on Tuesday

Recommended Posts

Im a nervous wreck! LOL! I was not this nervous before my lapband. I think my nerves are more about me doing this and not losing weight. That would be terrible. I trust Dr. Aceves but there is also that thought that something could go wrong.

I had so many problems with the lapband I dont want to experience that with the sleeve. Good luck!

Everyone is so different. I can really understand your fear. While I am nervous about the surgery and my body liking being sleeved, I am not at all concerned about whether I will be successful with it or not. I know I will be. I found out that the nutritionist who worked with me most wrote in my records that she's afraid I will be "that patient who after healing and working the process of easing back into food, will frequently forget to eat." I actually lol'd. I do not see me as every being someone who will forget to eat.

One of the things to remember is that you might end up down the road back into the "dieting" arena. But even if that happens if you have some rebound weight, think about how much easier it will be. One of my best friends is gastric by-passed and has been for years. She will occasionally (oddly in the summer because they do a lot of socializing) put on 15 or 20 pounds. But all she has to do is watch it for a couple of months and the weight comes back off so much easier than it ever did before.

I guess it's that I know a lot of people through my support group who struggled with the lap band and have done so much better with either of the other choices. You'll be one of those too!

I am with you! I was pretty nervous a few weeks ago and waking up with thoughts of 'why am I doing this?'. But over the past few weeks I have now come to a calm about it and am anxious to be moving forward. My surgery is day after tomorrow (Tuesday) and I am placing my hope in God and my surgeon to help me on the road to being healthier. Then it's up to me!

I wanted to say to everyone being sleeved this week, that I am so proud of you !!! You are making the choice of living the life YOU choose and I am so excited for each and everyone of you.

This forum has been such an inspiration for me. I am in the process of finding "the perfect surgeon" and I am a self pay.

I have reached out to people for advice and received prompt, kind and helpful responses.

All of this said....I know I will have this wls. I am scared to death as you all are and sometimes I think the worse, but as stated, the excitement of truly enjoying life and having the freedom of not letting weight control us and our happiness will be over.

Best wishes on your new journey and I will pray for each and everyone having the sleeve (God knows who you are :D ) and I cannot wait to hear of all your success!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
