Ok, I was approved to have my surgery, which is a revision from a VBG to a Sleeve.

Here is the issue. The surgeon is out of state, and my original EGD (Endoscopy) showed I had a Grade C esophogitus and he won't let me schedule my surgery until I have another EGD done. I can actually go down to TX to have this done this Saturday, but they won't do it unless I am released to "someone".

I am single, do not have any family anywhere in my geographic area and I don't have any friends who are available for this trip on such short notice.

I am hoping someone in the Plano, TX area might be willing to "check me out" after the EGD. It is an outpatient procedure. I am currently scheduled to show up at 9:45am this morning and I think I should be done sometime around noon. I can get an exact time.

I hate to put anyone out and I can give you some gas money- god knows how expensive it is getting.

Anyways, if you can help- send me a PM. Thanks.

I don't live in TX, but I do volunteer for an organization that drive seniors to doctors appts. Maybe there is that sort of service in your area, or check with local churches.

Thank you for the idea. They won't release me a "taxi" type service. I am coming from out of state, otherwise I would easily be able to find someone to "check me out". I live about 8 hrs away. The church thing might be an idea though, just not sure if they would still view that as someone acting in a "taxi" capacity.

Yeah, I can see where the 'out of state' thing is a problem in finding someone reliable. I hope you can do it. Just FYI - the volunteer driving I do is more than a 'taxi' service, there was one lady once that was having a procedure with anesthesia and required her to be 'checked out' to a reliable person the same day and I did that for her and made sure she got back into her home safely and was able to just settle in and rest.

Good Luck!

Someone in the general Dallas or fort worth area but especially Dallas since Plano up the road might be willing. Need a header to get their attention. I

'm from san Antonio unfortunately for helping you. Would you need to stay with someone overnight or be taken to airport or to hotel?

Thank you. I don't need anyone to stay with me, they just want me checked out to someone. Liability issues on their part, which I understand but its a bit of a problem when traveling out of state for medical stuff. I'm driving down, it's just an 8 hr drive.

Thank you, that was nice of you to do that. I'll keep it in mind. I just wish they would have told me this a few weeks ago when they had all this information instead of trying to jump through hoops in just a few days. They only do Sat appts 1x a month. I'm trying to see if I can have him do the procedure a day or so before the surgery. Waiting to find out if he expects the esophogitus to be healed before surgery or if he just wants to look for himself before he does the surgery.

And, I thought my hoops were done after I got my ins. approval....

If I were you I would go anyway and have the procedure done. If you have no one to check you out what usually happens is they will keep you for observation then release you.

They won't start the procedure if I don't have someone lined up to check me out and that would be an expensive trip for me to make to have them cancel the procedure. Believe me, I thought of that too.

Totally pointless for me to respond. I live in NY but if I lived in TX I would totally do that for you. My program required me to have a support person too, which was my husband, but we had some ups and downs with making sure he was on-board with me. Good luck!

I am unclear of your plan- you surely do not plan to drive eight hours after someone checks you out? Will you be staying the night somewhere? I just had a procedure and you will not be in any condition to drive.

You don;t need the person to drive you home, right? Just to check you out and take you somewhere else local?

I'm not going down Saturday, its just turning out to be too much of a hassle. The surgeon won't do the surgery until he confirms personally that I no longer have Grade C Esophogitus. Ideally, he wanted to verify this before scheduling surgery, but I talked them into getting that confirmation locally and then he can just do his own scope before I have surgery.

I would never ask anyone to drive me other than to someplace else local. They just wanted me to have someone check me out. I will still have to figure out having someone "check" me out when I go down there to have this procedure later after I have confirmation the Esophogitus is healed enough. But, at least I will have more time to prepare than just a few days.

I have to find out how soon I can schedule my local EGD now.

Repost this with a header relating to needing someone from Plano area and you might find someone more quickly! I am too far away in Austin or I would do it. Good luck!

That is so kind of you.

As for reposting- Thanks, I will do that. I still need to find someone, just not as quick now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
