Disappointed with weight loss two weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Good morning! I was sleeved 17 days ago. I have lost 13 lbs so far. I was really expecting to lose more. Maybe I am just anxious to lose but it does seem like most people have a big weight loss during the first two weeks. I am just checking to see if I am doing something wrong. Please share your stories on how your first two weeks post-op went. I am the same weight on day 17 as I was on day 10. Yikes!!!! This isnt what I expected at all. I was 196 to start and now I am 183. I've heard that the lower your BMI the slower it comes off. I am just checking to see what you guys experienced.

Your body is still pissed off at you, please let it recover without fretting over weight loss these first couple of weeks. They pumped you full of fluids during surgery and recovery so you're losing Water weight as well. Plus, the 3 week stall is pretty inevitable. Just keep following your post-op guideline.

You've lost nearly a pound a day, and one thing I always did was think "when in the past have I ever lost XX amount of weight in XX days?" Honestly, you're doing really fabulous. People with lower BMIs typically do lose slower, but 13pounds in less than 2 weeks is NOT SLOW by any stretch of the imagination. You aren't doing anything wrong as long as you are staying within your prescribed post-op dietary guidelines.

Comparing yourself, and your loss to others is only going to bring unrealistic expectations, and make you feel as if you're doing something wrong when in all reality, your body is yours, and not mine or any other member on this forum.

Thanks Tiffykins. I was just reading one of your other posts about the 3-4 week stall. It made me feel much better to know that this is "normal". At least now I know what to expect. Congrats on the baby! I look forward to following all of your progress with the little one. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
