CAULIFLOWER PIZZA

CAULIFLOWER pizza

1 cup cooked, riced cauliflower (steam cauliflower and rice it in food processor or Magic Bullet)

1 egg

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ tsp salt

1 tsp Italian seasonings

1 tsp garlic powder

Mix together and press evenly and thinly onto a sprayed pizza pan or cookie sheet. Additional seasonings can be sprinkled on top of the crust. Cover the edges of the crust with foil to prevent edges from browning before the center is crispy. Bake in 450 oven for 12-15 minutes.

Remove from oven and spread with pizza sauce, then toppings (make sure all toppings are already cooked), and then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella, and if desired some shredded cheddar cheese. Place back into oven under high broil, just until cheese is melted.

I like to add more seasonings to the “crust”, as the cauliflower has no flavor. This reheats well in the oven or microwave. An average size cauliflower yields about 3 cups after it’s riced.

I did a blog post about this (and took pictures of how mine turned out)

I have only made it one time because it is almost too veggie heavy for me, I do more Protein less veggies, but it really does help when you are craving pizza!

Just now finding this. That pic you took looks absolutely delicious! Can't wait to try itsmile.gif

Seriouly I tried this the other night and it was gawd awful! The pizza "crust" stuck to the pan and never got cripsy where you could pick it up. I just ended up eating the toppings off it.

I use a low carb tortilla for a crust then add pizza sauce, cheese, etc. (Crisp up the tortilla first in a skillet)

(Got this idea from "Blain's Low Carb" cooking show)

I did the same thing and made pizzas with the low carb tortilla, got the idea from the eggface site and really like it! :-)

I haven't tried the cauliflower pizza YET, but I do use cauliflower instead of potatoes for mashed "potatoes". I just steam the cauliflower then mash it exactly like I would potatoes. It is a surprisingly good substitute for "mashies". Don't forget to add some garlic and chives!!!:D

It is not going to be stiff like a pizza. I ate mine with a fork and knife.

Have you tried portobello mushroom caps as your base? This would only work if you like mushrooms.

I haven't but I saw the mushroom suggestion on Allrecipes and I'm definatly going to try it. It looks yummo.

I think I am going to try it soon. I do feel like cooking right now.

The idea of calling it pizza is obviously killing the Italian me (;)) and I have no idea what "Italian seasoning" is, but I guess fresh oreganon will do, won't it?

I am going shopping!!!

lol.. Italian seasoning is nothing but oregano and basil together

lol you're right. Mine does to and it's McCormick. I had a cheap one from the dollar store before and it was oregano and basil.

I have made this two ways, one with the cauliflower cooked first and the way with it raw. I have found that when It is raw, mixed with egg and cheese it sets up best. Now mind you it is not a crust you can pick up, but when baked in the raw state it is servable in one piece with a spatula.

This sounds so amazing and easy. I am just now moving into mushies so can't wait till I can try this recipe. I have never been a big cook hence why I probably got this big is because I was a fast food eater, but this recipe seems so easy. Woohoo love the recipe forum. I may become a cook yet!
