I'm just wondering what everyone else's progression of food break down to.....According to my literature and my dietician...(who is evil btw) they say 2 days of liquids then 4-5 weeks of puree then 4-5 of mechanical soft and then 4-5 of soft then regular food...she said 3-4 months before regular normal food...

Also does anyone have any recommendations on good Protein Powder, i want to still be able to juice some veggies and thought i would add in the Protein powder so i meet my 60 goal daily...

wow.....that is pretty drastic. My surgeon/dietician was after surgery 2 weeks liquid, then 2 weeks soft, 2 weeks semi-regular. At the end of 6 weeks we can eat any foods as tolerated but in much smaller quantities. As for Protein powders, we found matrix brand which we can pick up at The Vitamin Shoppe or at the hospital Apothecary.

BWT...I think most dieticians are evil. Good Luck.

haha..yes they are this one i saw last week was especially evil...she referred to my post meals as feeding times like i'm an animal at a zoo and then she looked me in the eye and said in a nasty voice..." Now don't go out any have any "last" meals" else your surgery will be CANCELLED!....i thought..who the hell are you?? I've been the same darn weight for over 3 years...LIke i'm going to go out and hoard and binge food all week...Clearly i will not see her again...she's a H*e bag in my book. LOL

and they did say that with such a long duration of the puree and soft it eliminates any leakage..they said they've never even had one person leak...so i guess that's good. Of course i can say that now because i can still eat normally for the next 25 hours...crap i just realized i only have 25 hours left...better head to redlobster and immmediately follow with timberlodge and then maybe a chinese buffet to boot...i'm kidding of course but seriously that dietician was a h*ebag...Thanks for your reply! =)

According to my NUT, I am on liquids for 7 days after surgery and then I do 1-2 weeks of pureed/mushies before moving onto soft food where I will stay for about 4-6 months.

Hi Serna-

I spent two weeks on full liquids, then one week on soft proteins(eggs, hamburger, fish, greek yogurt, etc.) and now I can have soft foods (no bread, Pasta, rice, under cooked veggies, etc.) until the 3 month point. I can then start slowly adding foods back in as tolerated.

I have had no food issues on this plan thus far. My NUT is ridiculously nice and even gave her email in case I had questions, I'm so sorry you got a she-devil! I am looking for a good brand of Protein powder as well, I haven't found anything I love yet.

Good Luck!

Amanda

I am 7 days out from my surgery. My doctor has me on liquid diet for three weeks, then pureed diet for two, then to the Progressive diet. I tried the Isopure products today and they are pretty good, not a cheese burger but it did not taste like drinking sand.

I will be 1 week of liquid, then 3 weeks of pureed with no Fiber, then 2 months of soft food. Then at the 3 month mark I move to "normal" food. I've been trying different Proteins and I like unjury chicken soap-doesnt take like Protein and the Unjury unflavored to add to liquid Jello.

They start us on regular food (all but raw fruit and veg) from day four post-op. No liquids or purees stages at all. I haven't had any problems tolerating just about anything, as long as I eat slowly and chew a lot.

I know, everyone thinks this is insane -- but it's just a completely different culture and approach. And it's top-notch health care and a definite center of excellence (though those aren't rated as such in Europe -- all my doctors and surgeons are experts in the field and well-published, etc.), so I do as I'm told.

So far, so good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
