Pre-Op Diet too sweet

Recommended Posts

So, my pre-op diet goes like this.....

1c. carnation instant Breakfast without sugar in skim milk

1/2 c unsweetened applesauce

1 whey Protein shake

1/2 c. sugar-free Jello

1c. V8 or can substitute 1/2c cooked veggie or 1 c raw veggies

1/2 sugar-free fat-free pudding

1 whey Protein Shake

1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce

1c. carnation instant Breakfast without sugar in skim milk

or Protein shake

1/2c sugar-free ff pudding

I want to ask the nutritionist if they make Protein shakes in potato chip flavor because I am not a sweet-treat eater :( What is with all the sweet crap? I want something that is more like food!

Have I cheated a little :( I have coffee in the mornings, my surgeon has said it would be ok. I have substituted small apples for the applesauce, and I have had 1/2 c of fat free cottage cheese twice now and I've had a few black olives. I'm on day 7, my surgery is on Monday, I've lost 9 lbs........haven't lost any in 2 days :( probably because I've cheated.

If my surgeon were as strict as some I'm sure I would be screwed......I know the "sample" the nutritionist gave me is just a sample, put seriously......what can you eat that doesn't have fat, carbs, or sugar? I think I will spend the weekend being exceptionally good for Monday :) Protein Shakes and crystal light here I come!

Can you eat 99% fat free ground turkey breast? Or drink low fat chicken or beef broth? My preop diet was Protein Shake for breakfast and lunch and for dinner palm size of food - half low fat Protein and half veggies. I ate a lot of turkey and fish. Only allowed Water otherwise. I know what you mean about sweet from the early postop diet. I feel i'll never eat another sf pudding rven now almost 9 months out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
