I know most people on this website would roll their eyes at someone talking about loosing too much...

But its been 5months since surgery n ive lost 50kg's or 110 pounds..... im now 60kg's or 120 pounds n im having real trouble eating....

I moved away and cant contact my doctor and im worried im going to get sick...

Can anyone offer me any advice on how to get my diet normal again?

I tried the Optifast shakes that i had pre-op but they made me really really sick...

Cheers All

Have you tried any other liquid sources of calories? Something more palatable? I know the mantra is healthy foods, but there are better tasting liquid options out there than opti-fast. My real life friend uses Boost on the weekends and blends in 1 or 2 teaspoons of Peanut Butter. She needs a little extra in the liquid range too to keep her at a steady weight.

Hi Sophie;

To loose weight you have : 1) Less calories 2) More excercise 3) WLS 4) all options

To gain weight you have: 1) More calories 2) Less excercise 3) seek professional help cause this might be psychological 4) all options

Please you need to consume more, even if liquid. Drink a milkshake or two. Find someone to talk to professionally, you are worth it! Good luck.

Do not fret, and please do not start eating craptastic food options just to get the weight loss to stop. There are healthy options available. Can you get access to a nutritionist or dietician? If so, do it now, and have them work out a meal plan for you.

I had the same issue, and for me the key was to add in healthy fats and more carbs. You'll need to focus on eating more and possibly drinking calories via 100% juice.

I can not stress enough that eating junk food to get your body to stop losing weight is just about the worse thing you can do.

The few things I did was add avocados, Peanut Butter, nuts, all of those healthy fats that were easy to eat, and not wasted, crap calories. I also drank 100% grape juice for added calories. Refried Beans with cheese, high Fiber, good carbs, and a good option to help add some calories and healthy carbs.

Avocado, olive oil, nuts, whole grains made with nuts and olive oil....mayo.....do you track what you eat on fitday.com or something like that? Do you know how much you are eating? I know this really helps me to lose weight, I would think this would help to gain weight or stay the same too...

I guess the real question is, why are you having trouble eating? Are you in pain when you eat?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
