Hello,

I did not go through U of M.... Instead, I went through Barix Clinics - Forest Health Services (Detroit Bariatrics) - Ypsilanti. Not sure if you are familiar with Ypsilanti or not, it is at 135 S Prospect in Ypsi... it use to be the old Byer Hospital, then it closed and Forest Health Services are there now.

My surgeon was Andre Nunn.... Dr. Nunn is awesome, such a totally caring doctor. He himself has had the band and he also did the band on his mom and dad, so this guy knows bariatrics surgery! He said "if" he was having surgery today he would go with the sleeve vs the band, but at the time him and his parents had the surgery the band was not done as a stand alone surgery, it was saved for the morbidaly obease.

Anyway - the entire facilty (3 floor hospital) is totally devoted to just Bariatric Surgery... the chairs, beds, wheel chairs, scales --- you name it... all of it is oversized to meet the need of the patients. I went for an informational meeting.. they have them on Wed nites and Sat mornings, you have to call for dates.. and different doctors work out of Foresst Health and they rotate which doctors do the informal meetings...I requested Dr. Nunn because he was referred to me by another WL patient. So I went on a Sat morning that Dr. Nunn was the doc giving the meeting... so worth while! I went in mid-October, was sold on it and started the ball rolling that day! By December I was all approved for surgery. I choose to wait unitl January do to work reasons and the holiday season..etc.

I had my surgery Jan 12th... and I am so very happy I chose the sleeve and Dr. Nunn.... the facility and entire staff are just great! This was one of the best decsions I have made, I only wish I would have done it sooner...

My Pats... presurgery testing where they do all your vitals, ultra sound, chest exray all that stuff you need prior to surgery, you meet with a nurtrion expert, you get "the bible" a book of do's and donts and guidelines... all of this is called PATS. My Pats was done on Monday, January 3rd... So I go by that date, the fisrt of the year!! I have lost 40 pounds since my Pats, and I never would have done this without the sleeve!!

Dr. Nunn is the best! He has two offices, (Ypsi and Wayne County) and is opening a 3rd in Monroe County...

They have a web site at " http://www.barixclinics.com/contact_us/michigan.jsp

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
