Has anyone experienced a change in their voice post surgery. I'm almost 2 weeks post op and I used to have quite a bit of bass in my voice, but now I sound like a raspy Micky Mouse (may not quite that high pitched, but close). I have tried to clear my throat a number of ways, but it stays the same.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Strange, I've experienced the same thing. My voice is weak most days after work. Not sure how this could be, perhaps the loss of fat and limited calories?

I imagine the loss of fat around your neck and in the face could change the accoustics of your voice.

It's got me wondering now. I don't get "brainfreeze". Ever. I joked that I must have an extra layer of fat in my head or something but I wonder if I'll lose weight and suddenly get brainfreeze when I don't now.

This happened to me immediately post op. Not sure why. I thought it was just a body thing going on in dealing with all that had happened over the last few days. Hope it gets better though. I sound sick all the time.

My sisters noticed that about me recently...........which I hadn't noticed until then. I wonder why that is though

You are not alone. The day after my surgery, while I was still in the hospital, my voice went raspy and I felt as though I had something small stuck in my throat. I thought it was either the tube they had put down my throat that caused some inflamation or that my throat was just really dry. Since then I have had a mild sore throat off and on, and my voice is weak and raspy. It does sound like I have a cold but I really don't. It's annoying and I wish it would go away. I do get all of my liquids in, all of my Protein and take all of my Vitamins. I don't know what else to do. I don't have an appointment with my dr. for another 9 days but I will definitely be asking him about it then if it hasn't gone away. I keep thinking every day will bring a change for the better, but by the end of the day, it is back to being the same especially if I have talked a lot. Maybe it's the lack of fat or oil in our diets? Including the pre-op diet.....

There is a lady on biggest loser right now who is an opera singer. The show's doctor said that she could lose her voice if she got any heavier because of fat pressure on the larynx. Don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I wonder how her voice will be by loosing the weight?

I sing opera. I was very worried about the surgery before I had it. I thought my voice would change. It hasn't!! If anything I have more energy to do some of the crazy things directors ask of you. I had a few months where it took time to get my support back under the voice but I am doing great now! I don't regret for a moment making this change!

See your doctor. From a bassy voice to mickey mouse, weeks later? Something is going on. It is obviously not what other people are talking about. Doesn't sound like something we can solve on the forum!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
