Tracking protein and carbs to lose weight

Recommended Posts

Hi All!!

This is my 2nd week post-op and I get to start my pureed diet tomorrow. Hurrah!! :D I have a question tho! How do you track how much Protein and how much carbs you are eating so you can achieve great weightloss results. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. It's my thinking that once you can start pureeing real food if you can get enough grams of Protein throughout the day a person wouldn't need to add powdered protein in the pureed foods. Right???

Thanks and have a good week.

I am now restriction free. My doctor told me NOT to count anything, to simply eat. Lots of protein first, a little veggies next, and a tad of cards. He also said that if I am eating the right real foods, I will not need to supplement it with powders and such. It has been working....

I have an Ipod Tough and bought a great nutrition tracker that I can take with me everywhere. If you have an IPhone or any "smartphone" you can look for a nutrition tracker app. It works great for me! Good Luck =)

myfitnesspal.com was my food tracker of choice.

Once I hit mushies, I rarely struggled to get in my Protein grams from food. I still limited my carb intake religiously because it's what I knew would work best for me. Plus, I really didn't have room for carbs after eating Protein. I ate 4 meals per day with a minimum of 15gr of protein per meal. I hit my 60gr goal fairly easily.

I never used shakes, or powders since they all made me puke.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
