When does your sleeve completely heal....

Recommended Posts

Maybe I'm the only one but I worry from time to time about eating to much and popping my staples. I asked my dietitian how long it takes for my staple line to heal and scar tissue to grow over it and she said 6mos. Seemed like a rather long time to me and then I read somewhere online that it takes about 6-8 weeks.

What have you guys heard?

6-8 weeks and the staple line is healed per my surgeon. That's why he is strict with lifting restriction, driving restriction, and post-op dietary guidelines.

I am 4 days out and this is one of my fears too. I fera that I will overeat and pop the pouch open. I also fear that the scar tissue will cause the pouch even smaller or close the opening. I am usually a non worry person but this surgery is getting a toll of me. i worry all the time and about everything.

6-8 weeks is also what my surgeon told me, but most of the important healing takes place in the first 4 weeks. I was pretty afraid of popping a staple early on, too!

There is not just one row of staples. There are actually 6 rows of staples and I know that my surgeon actually overstitched the whole thing as well. Not all surgeons do that part though.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
