Hey Coops -- so sorry you've had pneumonia -- I too had double pneumonia and it scared the living daylights out of me. Was in the hospital for 2 weeks too. But I've not had a problem since.

I also quit smoking cold turkey in my late 20s (I'm now 46) -- I smoked 35 cigarettes a day -- and it was super hard -- but after 6 months or so, I never thought of it again (unless I was around a smoker). For a while, if I was around a smoker, I would sit near them just to "smell" their smoke  Now, I can't stand the smell.

I like that Tankgirl called you an ex-smoker, because that is exactly what you are! :) And I think FatJuicyMouse is right too -- you need to get your hands occupied -- you need a distraction. In other words you need to get a good "addiction" -- something fun, useful, that will keep your head and hands occupied.

We're rooting for you! We know you can pull through this. Chin up!

Stay focussed in your Quest by thinking of chasing Mr Williams, you could be his one to one smoking cessation counsellor. Of course you would probably have to move in with him to do the job right, maybe you wouldn't want to do that ? Yeah..... course you wouldn't LOL

Angela... this is defo helps...lol... be like summat off Benny Hill... heheheheee... Mind he can chuff for Wales; I have often thought about us sharing a ciggie *dreamily sighs, knees shake and heart beat quickens*

I do feel better for not having a ciggie... and I am really proud that I haven't eaten to replace the ciggies... even though I don't think I have lost this week!!

Thank you all for you encouraging words... I will keep you up dated but I am, at last feeling a little more positive about it now! Oh and I have already saved nearly £50 so I bought myself a coat... and it was a size 18 - this time last year I was trying on size 24!!! x

two weeks today, two weeks today.... I ain't had a ciggie for two weeks yey!!

I did however, have a mini splurge last night ... I haven't eaten choc since my op but last night I had choc, crisps and biscuits... as a Meal Replacement...lol...

I haven't lost any weight this week, infact I have put a pound on so the splurge was a kick back at that and no ciggies... Gotta draw a line under it and move on now!!! I hope this isn't another bloody stall though, 'cos that would drive me nuts at this point!!!

Ok... I need HELP!!

In the three weeks that I haven't smoked I have gained 4lb... yes GAINED 4lb and that has really been in the last week!!!

I have not 'binged' or replaced food for ciggies...and I couldn't over eat even if I wanted to! Granted I haven't done much exercise but the DR said I should wait for 4-6 weeks after pneumonia to exercise again... I have been walking... but nothing like I was doing!

I am soooooo worried that this weight gain is connected to the no smoking... I am in a quandry!!! I really can't afford to put weight back on... especially as I am such a slow loser anyway!!

Words of wisdom from my VSG friends is seriously needed here....please

In my opinion giving up the ciggies right now should be your only concern. Well done. At 3 weeks you may find that the nicotine will try and trick you into "just 1 will be ok", just be aware of it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
