Is this happening to anyone else? It's happened to me about 3 times since surgery, most recently this morning. All it took was brushing my teeth and as soon as my toothbrush hits my tongue, I start gagging and then spend the next 5 minutes throwing up bile.

Ummm....why did I do this again? Sigh. Can I fast forward to 3 months from now?

Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry you're having such a tough time. I don't have an answer for the throwing up. But, I really want you to know that things REALLY do get better. Most of us have obstacles in the beginning and the whole learning curve sucks, to be honest. But, if we follow the rules and keep trying, things get easier. Just remember your dr is only a phone call away and even a call to the nurse can get you some help oftentimes. We are all pulling for you. Hope you feel better soon. Big hugs your way.

Thanks Maddie!

I talked to my nutritionist this morning about the problems I've been having. She suggested that starting today until this weekend, I revert back to Clear liquids, then next week go to full liquids, and so on. So yay. I get to go to an event on Friday, a wedding on Sunday, and a family reunion next weekend without getting to eat anything.

I am beyond annoyed. Stupid hernia repair.

Aww that's gonna be a bit rough for the weekend, but I am thrilled that your nutritionist has a good plan to get you on track. Hang tough, gf. You'll get there.

I had major nausea issues right around the same time - I even went to the emergency room because I almost passed out on the street. Nothing was wrong according to the ER doc (no imaging was done). Dr. Aceves wanted me to get an upper GI, but I had to wait 2 weeks before I could get an appointment. After a few days, my nausea completely went away so I postponed my upper GI to 3 months out. I'm still not sure what caused it, but I've seen other people here have it around the same time (2nd-3rd week post-op).

I had a TON of nausea in the second week-- it was awful! I'd wake up at 3am to vomit bile like you described. Dr. Ortiz's office suggested taking Maalox an hour or so before bedtime, and that made it stop completely. In fact, I haven't been nauseous since. Only problem is I'm afraid to stop the Maalox! I'll probably ween myself off of it in the next week or so though.

I hope you find relief, hun! That period of time was definitely a low point for me.

Try taking a few sips of Protein Shake with your Vitamins. Vitamins and Iron can be very hard on your stomach and coating your stomach with food will help a lot.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
