Candy Cane Herbal Tea

Recommended Posts

I am on day three of the liquid pre-op diet and one of my coworkers gave me a candy cane herbal tea bag from celestial seasonings. It was wonderful and made my stomach feel better. Just thought I would pass along this info on the off chance it will help someone else too. :001_smile:

Sounds wonderful. I think I remember seeing it around Christmas time. Don't see it on the shelves right now. Let me know where she got it, should you remember to ask.

Two teas I relied on in the week after surgery and still drink regularly are "tension tamer" and "tummy mint". I think tension tamer is by celestial seasonings and tummy mint I think is by stash. I also bought some beautiful tea "pearls" by Numi, they blossom in the pot/cup and are as visually appealing as they are tasty.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I love, love, love that tea. And, it's extremely soothing during the healing period, and definitely helps when/if you ever catch an ugly stomach bug post-op.

Tea "pearls" are traditionally jasmine but with tea experiencing a vogue in the States right now, wider varieties can be found. Jasmine is still the best tho, imo. The leaves are folded and rolled and stiched into a ball. It's done by tea artisans and they have the technique of doing it so that when the pearl is covered in hot Water, it unfurls or, "blossoms". I first had one served to me in a glass teapot in a teahouse in Boulder CO. A good tea pearl is relatively expensive compared to a box of teabags. One pearl can be about $1.00 whereas a box of 20 bags can be just $3.

FYI however - when you are buying the average teabag of black tea in the US what you are buying is tea dust, the leftover dregs and remnants of good tea. This inferior tea is then doctored up to give it taste. I'm not badmouthing teabags, just saying make sure you get your money's worth by reading the ingredients on the box. :P

I love this tea also, we have a box in the cupboard at all times. It is very soothing, and the scent has a nice calming effect on the nerves.

Lookinupin2010----- I find it at my local Publix grocery store year round.

My fav is apple cinnamon, also by Celestial seasonings. I have had the mint too, and it is really soothing and yummy as well- these are available year round at my Walmart, right next to the Lipton :)

If you are looking for something with a little cinnamon and pizazz... Zhena's Gypsy tea - Caffeine free- Chai is very nice too. :) I used to drink about half a pot of coffee every morning at work, the tea gives me a similar tactile experience and I love the flavors. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
