Hi everyone, this is my first posting. I am from the UK and had my sleeve in Czech Republic. I had some postoperative bleeding and they had to go back in to sort it out. Apart from the post op complication the experience was very good and the surgeon and team very very professional.

My problem now is that two weeks on I still feel very tired and weak. How long should I expect to feel like this? I am being very good with my diet and making sure that I get all the nutrients I need. I feel fine when sitting down but when I do a bit of washing up or hoovering, I feel exhausted.

any advise would be appreciated

HH

You just had major surgery. Your body needs time to adjust and heal. I went back to work after 10 days, but for the next 3 weeks I came home everyday and fell asleep. Some days I went out at lunchtime and took a nap in my car! Don't be so hard on yourself. Leave the hoovering to someone else if you can. Rest, rest, and then rest some more.

Hi there, I'm in the UK & had mine done in the Czech Republic too!

Terryfrances is right, you need to allow yourself to recover. Make sure you are drinking enough fluids, walking around as much as possible and when you feel the need to crash out just go with the flow and do it. No medals for fighting it

PM me if you want to chat further.

thank you for your advice, will try and take it easy. I was expecting to be a bit more with it by now. Possibly having two surgeries has delayed it a bit too.

Good to see you had the same surgeon as me Jane, liked Dr C.

How are you finding the sleeve?

Thanks

HH

Hi HH,

I loved Dr Cierny and the team and I love my sleeve. I can't praise them and this op enough. i felt last year that I wa only fit for the knackers yard and could see a life pootling around in a mobility scooter beckoning. Now I am slim and normal and having a ball. the best thing is I am sure I can stay like this without massive amounts of will power being needed.

You have made the right decision I am sure in getting this done. How much weight do you have to lose?

The others are spot on... I only started to feel normal really at the 3 week point... but each day I felt a little better.

If you're tired then do listen to your body and rest when you can - you've been thru a lot and need to give your body time to heal, esp after complications, and don't over stretch yourself at all.

Good luck

Thanks everyone

I am sure I have done the right thing, just getting used to it all.

I was 223 kg when weighed in hospital, 113kg now so a long way to go but heading in the right direction.

You have done so well and look fantastic, ore importantly I bet you feel fantastic.

Make sure that you're taking care of yourself -- in particular, getting enough Water, Vitamins, and Protein (you ARE seeing a nutritionist, right?), and getting enough sleep and exercise.

If all of these things are in order, it's likely just normal post-operative "shock." If you get dizzy or have trouble breathing or begin vomiting (or a bunch of other potential issues including severe pain, high fever, yellow eyes, swollen abdomen), run to your doctor immediately. But if you're just run down and you're doing all the things you're supposed to do, that's pretty normal.

I don't really have anything new to add... just that its perfectly normal for you to be feeling this way. I think I was about 6-7 weeks out before my energy really came back. Now... at 3 months, I have all that I had before surgery and then some. Take this opertunity to nurture yourself. You'll feel better soon

I went through a lot of fatigue post op. You just have to remember that you just went through major surgery and even though you may think on the outside you looked like your are fast on your way to recovery--- on the inside... it's a little more intense. I started feeling better energy wise at about 4 weeks. I hope this helps.. just keep your chin up and give your body time to heal.

I'm glad you're feeling better! I really didn't feel like myself until at least the second month. I'm now almost 5 months out and feel better than every -- the other day I did an hour with the personal trainer followed by an hour of tap dancing class, and had energy to spare!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
