Foodie Blog for pre-op/newbies

Recommended Posts

I just started a blog that might be helpful for pre-op newbies. Most bariatric food blogs are written by RNYers, who don't absorb calories like we do. This one focuses on food, recipes, and life in the kitchen. I'll be adding more recipes as time goes on. You can find it here: Gastric Sleeve Foodie

Thank you soooo Much! I love "the world according to egg face" blog but because she had the RYN I suspect that some things she posts arnt as VSG friendly. I look forward to reading your blog and supporting you in your journey. I am still a few months away from being able to have surgery but I cant wait till the time comes and I can make some of the goodies you have created! Thanks again!

Deb-I googled the syrups and the supplement warehuouse was the cheapest place (under $5 each for 750 ml bottle). That might change in the future--just keep googling if in doubt!

I can't wait to start blogging about the mushies stage--people seem to find it boring but it's really wonderful compared to full liquids.

Thanks so much for this blog! I am a total newbie. My surgery will be end of September and I really enjoyed your post on how to prep the kitchen and what kitchen things to buy. The ice cube tray is a great idea! I'm not looking forward to the mushie phase but I've been reading recipes on here and your blog that don't make it seem half bad! Thanks again!:)

The flavors are great--I have about 10 of them, including Egg Nog and Kahlua! My shakes are never boring. I also got some of the fruit flavors for a change. I'll be posting more mushies recipes soon--I'm still eating the ones that are already up there lol. I was really happy with the chicken salad today--omg there is flavor in the world!

Thanks so much for the link. I read every post and wrote down a lot of information. I may start on the pre-op diet next week since I'm hoping to get approved for a late August surgery. Better safe than sorry!

Don't start your pre-op diet until you have your insurance approval--you don't want to lower your BMI for that paperwork--they can use a lower BMI to reject your claim. If you're self-pay you don't have to worry about it. Good luck!

Thank you, Donna. Not sure if I will have this surgery, but this will certainly be a good resource for me if/when I do!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
